Hey Café--
Have any of you purchased the new (not really new anymore) Nielsen Ketchup bottles with generic labels and switched the labels with the Heinz labels? I know you can purchase Heinz labels or make your own. I was just wondering how easily the generic labels come off and how convincing the Heinz labels look once they're affixed. Thanks for any info! |

I hate to state the obvious, but as Nielsen's website states, the new Ketchup bottle labels are static cling. So they come off when you remove them and have no glue residue to mess with as with the previous adhesive labels. This is for a vanishing bottle, so they are not seen once vanished. Thus if the label moves, it is easier to reposition them to their proper place for the next use.
If you do a search, as I remember a member made some printable Heinz labels, although he did not give any information on applying them. Nielsen's Bottles are made out of vinyl, not latex or rubber. I guess you would have to find an adhesive that could be removed with naphtha or lighter fluid as Nielsen suggested this to remove his previous adhesive labels. Checking the Internet, there is static cling white inkjet printable label material available if you research for it. |

Thanks Bill. I found some labels on eBay, but I'm just wondering if anyone had done this and can comment on how realistic it looks. Wondering if the Heinz labels are too big for the new bottles, how realistic the Heinz labels look on the new bottles. I can imagine getting the new bottle, putting the Heinz labels on it, and having it look odd. I was thinking some of you must have done this? Bill, I think those static cling printer labels are the way to go. Thanks!

As I mentioned the person on the Café offering the artwork to print your own made them for the newer bottles for the same reason you are looking for an alternative. Additionally, with the artwork, it is a simple matter with today's computers to resize artwork to any size. Just read the help section in Windows Paint or any of the photo software available today.
Just as easy to buy a bottle of ketchup and soak the label off, scan it, clean it up, resize it, and Print it. As you did not take my advice to do a search, I will reference the referred to post, would you at least take a look and read it, please. http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......orum=109 |

Thanks, Bill. That was nice of you to copy the thread. I did already read it. I'm pickin' up the subtext, man. "Search before you post." Right? I did. Unfortunately, there was no mention of how it looks and/or pics. I was just looking for a friendly "Mine looks good. Put new labels on the old bottles and it looks absolutely believable" or "the bottle is pretty small for the labels that are available. Would be better to wait until someone wants to sell his/hers."
Thank you again... |

Old topic , but just in case anyone else is wondering about what the non-Heinz Nielsen Ketchup Bottle looks like with the Heinz labels printed on vinyl , an image is attached. The Heinz label makes it much more convincing. And I've heard comments from some magicians about "Heinz doesn't make glass ketchup bottles any more ..." but in fact they do for restaurant use. Even though you don't often see the glass ketchup bottles at the grocery store (though occasionally I do see them in certain grocery stores) you will see the old style glass ketchup bottles in many restaurants and diners , and the glass bottles are available from restaurant supply stores , so the glass Heinz bottles are definitely still around and still enough of a "common everyday object" that I think people don't find it odd that you'd have one of these glass ketchup bottles ... especially if you're working a restaurant or bar where the glass Heinz bottles are on the tables !
With the Heinz label on the non-Heinz Nielsen Ketchup Bottle, no one can tell the difference . Fortunately for me I still have my original Nielsen Ketchup Bottle (that is an exact replica of the Heinz bottle) , but I have one of the non-Heinz Nielsen bottles as a back-up if needed. Someone on ebay sells the static cling labels for $9 per set of four I believe. I have seen them within the last month. Search the sold listings to find out who.
I hope that helps.

Just an idea, but attach the paper labels to the vinyl static clings you can find in the dollar stores.

Cameron who posted in that thread was selling the labels or selling the PDF of the high-res. vector graphics so you can print your own on vinyl. . |

The problem either bottle, Heinz or non-Heinz, is that they don't make ketchup bottles like that anymore. Years ago, the Heinz ketchup bottle was the way to go because it was so recognizable, and it could be used for both adult and children's shows. The most import thing is that the bottle look real. Now, for children's shows I use the coke bottle; for adult shows I opt for the beer bottle.

Thanks for the feedback. Didn't realize they still make the glass Heinz bottle. I guess it depends on where you hang out, eat, etc. as to which types of bottles seem more common.

My new Wizards' Journal #38 "Bottle Miracle" shows how to do so much more than just vanish a Coca-Cola bottle, but one special ending effect would also work with a Ketchup bottle. You would be able to put a real glass or a solid plastic (more easily found) Ketchup bottle into a paper bag, then crumple up the bag and begin tearing the bag to shreds until nothing is left of the bottle or the bag.
Imagine being able to pass around a real bottle of Ketchup (with the real label) and let everyone squirt some real ketchup on their hot dogs or french fries, and then take that same bottle and vanish it by not just crushing the bag, but tearing it to bits. https://www.magicnook.com/WizJournal/WJ-......eMiracle

I was shopping at a Grocery store called Metro here in Toronto today and saw Heinz glass Ketchup bottles exactly the same size and shape as my Neilson Vanishing Ketchup bottle.

I'm still seeing glass Heinz bottles in restaurants in 2023. You can buy Heinz ketchup in the traditional glass bottles on Amazon and online Restaurant Supply Stores.
Anyone who uses the ketchup bottle , here is something of interest - https://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/view......forum=17 Even if you use the "new" style bottle shown, the labels help. Click here to view attached image. |
