Can anyone give me a list of the music titles Rudy Coby uses? I'm looking for a particular song he uses. It sounds like a detective theme. Marco Tempest also uses this song a lot in his DVD. Thanks in advance.

I think it is Peter Gunn theme from the Art of Noise.

When using existing songs, such as the Peter Gunn Theme, you need permission from the copyright owners: the composer, the artist who recorded the version you want to use, the record label, the music publishers, and so on. You'll have to negotiate a fee with each of those individuals and organizations.
A simpler alternative is to license the rights from the music rights organization that handles that song (BMI, ASCAP, etc). They will charge you an annual fee to use any of thousands of songs under their control. This is important: It is not only unethical to use copyrighted music without permission, but illegal. Now I'm not suggesting that this was your intention, but just informing you that the consequences, if you get caught, can be VERY expensive. Up to $150,000 PER SONG!!! I personally cannot afford to lose my house, so I compose my own custom music for my shows and routines. And I’ve made a lot of my original music available to other magicians by producing the “Make it Magic” series of royalty-free music CD’s. Using royalty-free music is a much cheaper solution. Plus, my music is specifically written for magic routines. Audience-tested and guaranteed to generate great responses. Just ask Ken Scott! Lou, this thread started with your question about the Peter Gunn music (or something with a detective theme). I happen to have a song that's written in the style of "Secret Agent Man." My arrangement evokes the "feel" and "atmosphere" of that song. But the melody and chord changes are original and different enough so that no one could ever say: "You ripped that off." You can hear a sample of this track on my website. It is entitled "Top Secret" and it might just be what you're looking for. Best of all, it's royalty-free! You never have to worry about copyright or licensing. - Arthur Stead http://www.arthurstead.com P.S. Also check out the music clip "Inspector Kazoo." It's a take-off on the Pink Panther Theme. |
