I do magic at school,hence I am 13.
I just go up to ppl and say " Can I show you something?" The confidence problem is natural, just practice, practice, practice and once you do one trick perfectly you will gain confidence. And trust me at school you gain a reputation fast! I am known as the magic man at my school even the teacher know me by my magic. It is great! Hope this helps Sincerely,Tyler Another good idea to get started is ,if you can one hand cut or coin roll just do that till someone says"Can you do a magic trick?" This usually works. ,Tyler

Begin from your Class mates, then you will se how the magic is spreading all over your school, You will see 2-3 weeks latter ppl from your school will ask you to show them the trick latter on.

It can be enjoyable when your whole school knows you do magic like myself....but as I have made previous posts about this, your peers will be the hardest audience to please. I get bugged EVERY DAY at my school to do a trick. I am not saying to not enjoy having people ask you to do a trick, but am just telling you that there will be a point in your young life when it will get annoying. Just be prepared to deal with that, lol.

I'm 15, most people know me as a magician, and I go on this site a lot durring school (lol) sometimes they just ask me to do a trick. Other times,, I flat out ask them to watch, most of them are glad to, as they have seen my magic before, and enjoy it. It is a great place to practice, as they are really out to get you, just to let you know.

When you get with a group of 10 or more students, then just show them your best trick, then soon after that everybody will be talking about it to others and they will be curious to see it again and again. Good luck

If you're going to show them something, be ready to get interrupted every time you're busy. At 13 I guess it wouldn't be too big of a problem, but my school schedule keeps me under constant pressure. Meanwhile, the guys at the next table won't quit begging for some magic. Floor them with your magic, but a few weeks from now... don't say we didn't warn you. |

As for your confidence problem: once you start, that will take care of itself. Just make sure that when you start you only do tricks that you're very comfortable with.

I am not even known as a magician in my school. ITs pretty funny I usually try to avoid it. So I did cardtoon the other day for a girl while walking home......SHE FREAKED. The next day at school she asks me if I could show her friend.
I said "NO"... Then I did coinbite for the whole class...and they honestly to god thought I was satan.......everyone wanted to talk to me and show em more. But me being the guy that doesn't wanna be known as a magician. I just Shut up and stayed sitting in my seat. All these flashbacks were pretty cool but being a magician at school is hard. Sure you get popular but then everyone just wont shut up about it. They forget who you are as a person and in my opinion it just draws away from who I am. SO I suggest you do it once in a while and you controll the show. don't get controlled. It might make you mess up...i can tell you all this from experience. |

Just go up to people and do a trick for them. People in my school know me as a magician so every time they see me, they ask me to do a trick for them. Sometimes even the same one.

DO something that requires no patter, I stand in the middle, or if a group,.put my fist in the middle of them, with a piece of napkin on it. when they are loking at it like what the hall, I vanish it using a TT> Then I go into my routine.
Try not to perform for kids 11 or below- ill elaborate on this if needed |

I also do very little magic at school, my advice is next time you do a presentation or a speech then do it on magic. I did and gained confidence extremely fast. and everone loved it aswell, just try doing magic at school , whats the worst that could happen?

I usually do the Raven at school. DO NOT do the Hummer card, it'll make your audience go completely crazy. I've had people nearly tackle me to find the secret.

Be very careful doing magic at school. Audience management with your school friends is very difficult. Also, if you get caught with a deck of cards or trick coins, in some school districts, that can be evidence of possession of gambling equipment.
Consider this. People in your school who play in bands don't go wandering from class to class with electric guitars or drums and singing their songs, do they? Magic is an art form, and will only be respected as such if the practitioners of it behave as artists.
