Looked around.. Couldn't find a specific answer...
Have lined up a series of European Festivals later this year, and need a wireless headset mic that can be used with my battery-operated Amp Can, with the receiver running off the internal battery of the 15v Amp Can, rather than an additional AC power source. After some research it seems the best mics for this are camcorder microphones. Has anyone had any experience with these? I don't want to buy one, only to find it's not going to do the right job. Alternatively, I might be persuaded to look at a wireless mic whose receiver can run off it's own battery. Or some kind of highly technical contraption that will convert an AC power plug to run off a battery. I'm really pretty clueless. Any suggestions? |

Malini,
Several manufacturers have systems with beltpack receivers, often called "ENG" systems. The beltpack receivers are usually intended to be mounted on a video camera, although they can go anywhere, and the transmitters can be of the same variety as any other wireless system. Except for the most expensive systems, I think all of the beltpack receivers have only one antenna (non-diversity), and single-frequency (not adjustable). Here are two examples. http://www.shure.com/wireless/vp/default.asp http://www.shure.com/wireless/up/default.asp Cheers!
