Hank Lee is offering a Bob Swadling coin gaff that opens up lots of possibilities:
"Double Expanded Shells Take a look at the picture. What does it look like? Three Half Dollars. Right. That's how perfectly Bob Swadling has made these expanded s****s. You can't tell one from s***l from the other, and you can't tell the s****s from the real coin! You get one real Half Dollar, one Expanded S***l that fits over the Half Dollar and one Double Expanded S***l that fits over everything. The routining possibilities are endless. Coins Across, Coins Thru Table, Multiplying Coins. You name it, it can be enhanced with this set of s****s." Cheers, Jerry |

Jerry, I'm surprized the double expanded shells are just coming out now, I would have thought someone would have come out with them a long time ago. I have a set of Todd Lassen's 4-coin nest. Awesome coins. Tom

Okay, add a Dill coin and now we have five deep? Nice. I guess this makes the four coin version of the Cylinder and coins trick much easier too.
Is he making the gaffs up in custom coins?
...to all the coins I've dropped here

Jonathan,
Todd Lassen makes these nests using any coins you want, in half or silver dollar size, using either three or four coins. They're fantastic. (I haven't seen the Swadling version, which appears to use standard new Kennedy halves.) Jerry |

Just taking the Devil's Advocate position here: What are the ethics of Todd Lassen(or any other coin mechanic for that matter) producing a set of coins that was developed by Swadling? Hmmmmmm?!!!!

I could be wrong, but I am not under the impression that Swadling developed nesting shells. This is the first I have heard Swadling making them. One only needs to look at the Hopping Half coin set to see a nesting set of shells...

Hi Dan,
You are of course correct about the Hopping Half set. An exp****ed Sh***, Cut-down coin, and matching Sh***. |

I don't have these, but I can say that everything I have seen from Bob Swadling has been first rate in quality.

Todd has been making these coin nests for years -- long before Bob Swadling offered them. I got a set of four from Todd at least four or five years ago, in Walking Liberty halves. The concept does seem to go way back (Hopping Half, etc.).

Great quality and great price. I was sooooo tempted to buy this nesting set the whole weekend I was working at Hanks. Mine and Curtis Kam's table was right across from Bob Swadling's booth, so I watched him demo his wares over and over. Everything Bob offered was well made and a great price. I ended up buying his shell set (like the Karl Norman design), his torn and restored card, and his sympathetic matchboxes . . . I was lucky to get out of there alive with my wallet.

I remember seeing Dean Dill perform his Explosion routine. I know that this used a multiple SS.

How is this different than a nesting coin? Maybe the second and larger ] is 2 coins deep so you can stack it on top of 1 ] and 2 regular coins?

Are we talking about nesting or double expanded here?
Swadling's coin is an expanded shell that fits over another expanded shell. not the same as a hoping half set or a set with a ground down coin. I am just checking becuase people seem to be discussing other sets? Steve Dela |

Has anyone actually seen the double expanded shells on top of a morgan coin, and if they have how well does the expanded shells sit on the regular morgan dollar.
