Maybe you should try getting McBride's world class manipulaions. You can learn a lot of routines and effects for your fakini balls.

My ideas are not moves but theme and transition ideas. I think we already know way too many moves and passes and hides and such. We tend to use too many of them already. So my ideas evolve aropund how can you use the billard balls in a different thematic way or build in tranisitions to make it more entertaining for an audience.

- Throw a ball up and as it hits the hand it vanishes and turns into that colored silk

- Roll the ball into the hand and it vanishes but appears to get bigger. In reality it has turned into that colored yo-yo. The yo-yo can be spun downward and as it comes back up it changes back into the ball.

- The ball is placed on top of a stick. Now iot becomes a lolipop. You do manipos with the lolipop and the ball comes off the top. Now you have changed the premis of what the object is by associating it with something else.

- The ball can be the bottom part of a musical note. You pluck it out and every time the ball (note) appears the music starts. Each time a new ball is appeared, different music appears with it. In the end you have 8 balls which are the entire notes on a musical staff. It becomes manipulation of sound.

These are just a few ideas I have been playing around with lately and written in my notebook. I hope they may help you to think creatively as well.

Thank you. I appreciate that. These are just some of the many ideas I have written down over the years. I try to be creative as I can and always train my mind to be that way. I keep a notebook with me or my palm pilot so I can write down ideas as they come to me. This is a way I can always capture a thought or an idea before it leaves my mind.

I try and teach folks to think outside of the box by not focusing so much on the trick. I call it reverse thinking. Instead of thinking about the billiard balls, allow yourself to gain ideas from a song, another object, a story etc. When one gains insight from a source outside of magic, then I feel the magic becomes that much stronger to an audience.

We manipulators must remember that we are not there to impress ourselves. We are there to entertain an audience. To an audience, the ball vanishes and it reappears and there is not much more to that.

If this is the case, then what can we add to out own routine so that we are giving our audiences more to get engaged in? Add "layers" to your magic and it will be so much more rewarding for you and your audience.

First of all, Kyle is one of the most creative guys on the Café.

Second, start with the basics. As you go through your day look for things that are spherical (a lightbulb, the sun, a doorknob, etc.). Once you figure out what exactly you want to use your fakinis for, perhaps this might spark some interesting ideas.

Many thanks. I just like to try and think differently then most do and keep my mind trianed on being creative. Like anything, creativity only comes with practice and with doing. If you want to be more creative, you simply must go out there and start thinking that way by training your mind in what I call creativity exercises. There are also brainstorming exercises I do as well and can explain them later if anyone s interested.

There is just so much more you can give youe audience as a manipulator then just using skill alone. Certianly there is nothing wrong with showing skill, however, if you add to that skill by using things like tranistional effects, themes, style, character and emotional impact, you can give your audiences a lot more to get involved with within your routine.
