Hi all,

Which are the best fanning cards out on the market, in your opinions?

Do you wax them or coat them in fanning powder?

thanks

I use japanese fanning cards with great success. Two decks are from UGM, They are longer than normal cards but with the same with as a brige size deck. I also use another kind wich also are japaneese but in regular birge size. I use powder onthe cards from UGM but wax on the other cards. Also both kinds of cards are thin like manipulation card so I don't have to swith decks when going from fanning to manipulation.

I have several different fanning decks and my favorite is a double backed deck made by Magic Christian. I believe they were made in the 1970s. They are great and have very beautiful patterns. I also have a Japanese deck that is also quite good and have vivid colors. I have one that was put out by Supreme magic that looks something like the Abbotts fanning deck. I also have an Abbotts fanning deck which I cannot stand. It does not powder well and just does not fan well at all.

I just use bicycle cards. Without fanning powder.

It works good for me and it's cheap.

This is just a quick note for card fan fans(?). I mean for people who like to do card fans. Fanning powder is zinc stearate, although maybe other stuff may sometimes be added, and the chemical bought in bulk is a lot cheaper than "fanning powder." That said, I found on the clearance shelf in a local drugstore a talcum powder for men called "Pinaud Clubman." It contains talc, zinc stearate and zinc oxide, and it says on the bottle that it is ultra-fine. Anyway, I bought it for next to nothing and tried it out on cards. It works beautifully, possibly even better than "fanning powder."

UGM also has a deck of "normal" manipulation cards in poker size that's simply great.

The Zinab fanning deck, now at Collector's workshop is worth looking at. Cardini used cards he got from Woolworths (a major dime store in the old days)! Today maybe Kmart would be similar.
