I put in my info to join IBM ring 2100 about a month or 2 ago, and still have not gotten any information. How long does it normally take? Any one else have this problem?

Are you already a member of the IBM? Local rings might be different as far as the process goes in becoming a member. For the IBM itself it takes around 90 days.

I am already a national member of the IBM and a member of my local IBM ring 129.

Corey, One of our staff is actually president of Ring2100. I'll have him contact you. It doesn't take very long to be a member. Have you tried to enter the Ring2100 web page? If not, go to http://www.magician.org. Click on members and then select Ring2100 from the right side of the page. Then click on "click here". on the next page click on the crystal ball. On the next page, click on ring2100 web mail on the top right. Click on ring 2100 and enter your e-mail address on the next page. You don't need a password. On the next page, you can read messages, check you settings for individual or bulk digest, or creat a message of your own.
Of course if your account has not been set up yet, you'll get an error when you enter your password.

Corey, Dave's right, but we have a direct link to our website at http://www.ring2100.org
Email me your request along with your IBM number and I'll take care of it personally. (Email, not PM or message here. We need to see your email return address for the mail server.) David

I must say that anyone who's an IBM member and has yet to sign up with Ring2100 should really do so. I don't have a local "active" Ring, but Ring2100 is like having a constant meeting all the time. Of course, you get the typical online banter every now and again, but the majority of the members are more than willing to go out of their way to help futher your magic.
I've been unable to catch up on the last couple months because I've been so busy, but I'm saving all the digests!

Really? I'll check on it, and if our "highly paid" volunteer hasn't done it already, I'll take care of it tonight. I do need your IBM number (it was missing on your initial request) so if you can email that to me at dvmagic@cox.net I'll get you logged in to our system.

Marc,
I still need your IBM number, but everything else is in place and you should have received your first daily news digest a few hours ago. Let me know if you didn't get it for some reason.

I sent in my Request with my member number and have not heard anything yet. I just thought I would drop a line here since it seems to have helped others.

I gotta add to this...I've sent in several requests to Ring 2100 with my IBM number and never have heard back, I finally gave up trying to get in. So I don't mean to just pile on, but I would suggest given the number of similar comments, that you guys review your methods for letting folks join. Something is clearly not working as well as it should.
I know it's all volunteers and I appreciate the effort, so I hope that comes across as a constructive suggestion as I really would love to join one day! As is, I tried twice, tried to follow up a few times, and just never have gotten a response. That is why I suggest you review what happens in your process, because somewhere you are clearly losing a lot of potential members. |

I had no problems at all when I joined. However, it seems too complicated to post, so I just read the Ring 2001 Digest when it is sent to me via email. I haven't tried in a long time, but I had problems trying to post when I first joined.
Has anyone else had problems trying to post messages? It could be my super slow dial-up. Regan

I just logged in as admin and saw that somehow our membership person has dropped off the committee list. That basically means that he's not seeing membership apps like he used to.
I've just added myself to the roster so I'll be watching things for a while. Anyone Café member who is trying to join Ring 2100, please try again as I have no idea when your previous message was sent. Regan, Posting messages are as simple as writing an email. The address is ring2100@ring2100.org As this is a "text only" system, any attempts on your ISP's part to convert it into an HTML format causes grief so unless it's "plain text" it will kick back the message. This is an unfortunate limitation of the medium and there's no easy cure. The worst offender is AOL as they simply don't get the concept of "plain text." Although their tech support says otherwise, even the default "Arial 10 pt black" forces your emails to be HTML formatted using these font commands and is unreadable to our system. The alternative is to log in using our webmail portal on our website at http://www.ring2100.org Just log in using your registered email address and read/write from there.
