Hi guys.
Do you know any magic theme restaurants in the world besides Schulien's in chicago? I've never been into these kinds of restaurants and I'd like to experience what the environment feels like. A reply would be appreciated. Cheers, Michael |

I've never even heard of Shulien's. I know Disney once had plans to make a magic-themed resort with waiters levitating the lids off plates and a magician in the lobby, but that was way back in the early 80's and the concept fell through. Doug Henning was planning to open up a place called 'Vedaland' which was all magic, but that never materialized either. There WAS a theatre & restaraunt on I-Drive here in Orlando that was all-magic, but it went out of buisness after 9 months.
Seems to me that magic is good for adding to an existing venue....spicing it up & whatnot, but magic cannot itself BE the venue. ....What?? Oh yes, I've been to 'Casear's magical Empire' in Vegas, but let me explain something....that's Las Vegas!! CME is backed up by moguls with more money than Croesus in a place that's NEVER short on loaded tourists.
Everybody wants to beleive.....we just help them along.

Don't forget the Magic Island in Houston. It has been going strong for almost 25 years. It's a great place to work. http://www.themagicisland.com

http://www.merlinshow.com/ I was thinking of trying this out. I've heard some lay people say it was good. Don't know any of my local magician freinds who have been there. They aparently have set up a theater adjacent to a local restaurant chain called the Rib Trader.
Mediocrity is greatly under rated!

I heard tell of one in Louisiana opened by Harry Anderson and others. Also, I think Bill Malone has one too.

Magic oriented restaurants/bars are a fading breed. It's hard to find any that are pristine and entertaining around my area, Chicago.
Let's make a pact here. The Next Magic Café member who wins the lottery, builds the biggest and best magic headquarters ever, with lifetime memberships for all us illusionists here at The Magic Café. Sound good? |
