Without leaving any of the other amazing mentalists and magicians out, I have to say that you're on top of my list. I love the natural way in which you perform, you have a wonderful personality and your material is just amazing! As a casual entertainer, I've learned a lot from you, both here at the Café (reading your posts and your answers to my personal questions) and with the body of work you've put out. I really wish to meet you in person someday, meanwhile, we have the Café, and you might also see me as an extra in the miami vice movie they're shooting here in miami. You are, without a doubt, for both beginners and pros, an incredibly important person to watch and listen to. Wow. Thanks! Talk later.

Hi Anabelle!
That is wonderful about your part in the Miami Vice show. Please let all of us know here on the Café when that episode will be on. Thank you for the comments about my personality and working style. I just try to be myself, that is all. I really think an audience would rather see a real human being doing these things than a guy from Mars! Seriously, most people like to put themselves in the place of the performer. You have to make it easy for them to mentally do that. If they want to be you, then they sure as heck will like you! Annabelle,
I just realized you said the Miami Vice MOVIE! That is even better! Let us know about that. Richard PS I hope they don't kill you in the movie! |

Actually I might have been killed, but the people watching won't care. I hope I don't end up on the cutting room floor, whether they show me dying or not. I'm not elite, so I didn't get a copy of the script though I did flip through one (Thanks C.!), The movie will be fun, that's what they're hoping for. From what I've seen and heard, it will be.

Samuel,
That's right. I just try to be myself. I never thought about the use of a character when I first started my career. Max was not Max yet and there was no one else to even suggest that was an option. There is no right or wrong answer to this question any more than there is a right or wrong answer as to what style or type of magic you should do. Those are all your choices. Richard |
