Hi Richard,
I would just like to add my appreciation for your work to all of the other members here. Thanks. I am interested in your Solid Ghost routine (probably next month's magic budget!) and I was wondering if you present it mostly as an effect where you have audience members come to the front much as in the Mind Mysteries series, or do you do it on a table to table setting? Or does it work equally well with both? As an aside, I was interested in your thoughts on pre-show nerves and setting the mood in the beginning minutes of your act to establish rapport with the audience. This is always the toughest part for me. I am fine on conversation, but I usually wait until a subject comes up. In your thread, as well as some other older threads, "How Make Friends And Influence People" was suggested as good point to start. Who'd have thought that Lenny Bruce could have that kind of influence? (O.K. that was a joke and I'm showing my age.) I intend to pick up the Dale Carnegie version this week - I believe I have seen it in every bookshop I've haunted for 40+ years and never picked it up. Still learning something new everyday, Don |

Don,
Believe me, the Carnegie book is the best investment you can make! About the Solid Ghost, the answer is both ways. I used it last year in Chicago at a dinner going table to table and I have used it on the floor by bring up a table and two chairs, one for myself and one for a lady assistant. I actally end the new Mind Mysteries videos with this efect! I was a little tired by then, but it played really strong! Sincerely, Richard |

I also have a copy of How To Win Friends. Have read it once, and plan to read it 'several' more times. Fantastic info in there. I've already used several of the techniques around 'hard to get along with people', and the techniques work.

Scott,
I don't want to give out a complete list of items just yet. Things always change and until the videos are out, there is no way of telling just what the finished product will be. But I tried to take some of the best things out of Challenge Magic and Dynamic Mysteries and other materials that are no longer available. Then I wanted to add some newer ideas such as The Very Modern Mindreader, ODDS, The Memory Test that I have recently published. There are also a few new items which were never published. All in all, this plus the first set is just about everything. Richard |

Richard I'd like to know your SeaFire Book Test, even because I love Book tests, is there any chance you can publish again or perform it on video?

Speaking of SeaFire - I don't own it but I seem to remember from the blurb that the SeaFire book has a dedication to Richard. How did that come about Richard?

Chet,
Thanks for remembering that and the link. The "more" to the story is that year John also wrote a great novel called, "Confessor". In it, the star is also a magician. John gives accounts of his different performances and, in one such description, he uses part of my show! That was also an honor. But I didn't get a mention in the book! But I am not complaining! Having a Bond novel dedicated to me may not be a Pulitzer Prize, but it's pretty da__ good! Richard |
