Bicycle Ghost Deck by Ellusionist
-----------------oOo----------------- Description: Everything about the Ghost Deck is white, black or gray. The only red portion is BLOOD red and is the small pip underneath the index, as seen on the QH in the above photo. In other words, no part of the card is red except the tiny pip underneath the index and that's on the hearts and diamonds on the deck. Designed by Ellusionist, the Bicycle Ghost Deck has a UV-500 Finish, thick high grade stock, and an amazing design. Five solid months of design work went into the Ghost Deck. It maintains the general Bicycle look-feel, but adds incredible touches that the red and blue decks lack. Latin on the Joker says: "The World Invites Deception". One of the Jokers is stepping on an Ace of Clubs, one is not. When you turn the Ace of Spades upside down, you'll notice snake heads at the base of the pip. In addition, there is a hand coming out of the top of the Ace. Whereas the Black Tiger Deck is tight, focused and aggressive, the Ghost emanates beauty and energy. You can look forward to a massive, much anticipated worldwide release around August 20, 2005. ------------------------------------------ Anyone who has already read my reviews of the now famous Black Tiger deck or the more recently released Viper Black Tally-Ho cards (both from Ellusionist.com), know that I have been very impressed with the various card design work that Brad and company have been releasing to the magic community. And why shouldn't I be? Afterall, as magicians we have been confined to basically a very small selection of Bicycle style cards for many years now, so the way I see it, any new varieties that come along should be happily embraced with open arms. Whether one purchases a deck to use as is, or just for a few particular cards to include in a standard red or blue Bicycle deck, you really can't go wrong here. The sheer strangeness of the new designs is enough to catch any layperson off guard, and that's enough for me. Well, imagine my surprise when I checked my snail mail and discovered a fresh pack of Bicycle Ghost cards inside. Brad Christian was kind enough to send me a deck before he actually released these to market (thanks Brad!), and I've been playing with these all week long. Because of the high quality of previous deck releases from Ellusionist, my expectations were extremely high. I am happy to report that those expectations were not thwarted in the least. I keep asking myself: "How long can they keep this up?" I hope for a very long time. Shuffles, fans and faro's are a no brainer with the Ghost Deck and I think I'm begining to get spoiled with such fine quality and workmanship. Gee, thanks Brad - now I'll have to order a dozen more! As if having a great working deck were not enough, Brad and company have re-worked the actual look of your standard Bicycle Rider deck. The backs have your basic Rider back design, only printed in black and white -absolutely no color! The faces have all the color sucked dry, except the pips on the hearts and diamonds, which still remain blood red. What's more, even the Jokers and the standard Ace of Spades have been given a face lift...spooky. These cards are so different, yet not a kick in the face like the Black Tigers. Those of you who feel spectators are too suspicious of the Tiger decks may want to consider checking the Ghost deck out. At the very least, you will find some cool cards to use in conjunction with a standard red or blue Bicycle deck. I'm told that Brad will be releasing the Ghost decks in a variety of gimmicked versions (Svengali, Stripper, Invisible, Rising, etc) and even in miniature size! Add to all that a Deck shell to match and your good to go. Hopefully Ellusionist will decide to make a deck of Gaffed Ghost cards available as well - that would be great for anyone who uses different decks. I can see it now, a Ghost card with a standard blue or red back design - or even a Black tiger card! Steady Steve, it's only a review. What more can I really say? Collectors will no doubt grab several decks and flourishers will buy these by the case loads. Magicians? Well, If you are looking for another weapon to add too your card arsenal that is sure to twist the mind of your spectator, I highly recommend you purchase a few decks right away, you'll be glad you did. Highly recommended. ------------------------------------------------------------------ My rating: Suggested retail is: $4.99 (Bulk: $3.99 / 36 decks) ------------------------------------------------------------------- Bicycle Ghost Decks can be ordered directly from Ellusionist.
