Just take a look at the demo video of Misdirection Monte at http://www.underground-collective.com/ef......uct_id=2 and you will see how powerful the Underground Change really is. If this is your first time viewing the video, you were probably even fooled. I know I was.
The e-book teaching the technique and routine showcased on the demo video can be purchased from the website mentioned above for around $17. For your money, you will recieve a complete description of the Underground Change utility card switch as well as routines utilizing the change. Obviously, Misdirection Monte is the showcase routine, but other effects using the change are also explained including a two card transposition, a few stickmen routines, a burnt card effect, and more. Also included are two bonus routines that do not use the move; my favorite of which is a very clever ace location by Thomas Blomberg. The move itself, although it will take some practice, is easier than I had anticipated. It is kind of a knack, and your first few attempts may be frustrating, but before long you will be off and running. You may think the price is a bit steep for just learning a card move, but it is taught in great detail. The routines in the book are fun to perform and play with, but the possibilities are endless. Also, take into consideration the fact that if you put in the time to master this move, it is something you WILL use. Since it can be done with any deck, it won't sit on your shelf with other items you for which you paid triple this price. If you're willing to put in a little practice time, this is highly recommended. Caleb

Agreed - Jamie's move is excellent, invisible, and offers many more possibilities than similar moves. Well worth checking out - if only to learn "Under 21" from UC2.

More of a question for Jamie, I am still finding it difficult, and find the instructions to mis-direction mote which is the reason I got underground cgange, very difficult. Is there a place to learn it by video as well?

I have not purchased the ebook, but doesn’t the move look like a Paul Curry's change, the original huge finger b***k being probably replaced by one far more discreet?
Apology if I am way off the mark. |

Claudio - Jamie's "Underground Change," for me, is an improvement over the Curry Change in that it offers more flexibility and "mystery" to the ultimate effect. Just see Jamie's "Under 21" effect from "Underground Collection II" and you will be convinced. I have used the Curry Change for years and have switched over to the Underground Change without hesitation. Be aware, Jamie's sleight requires practice. And BTW - both the Curry Change and Jamie's move can be done without the "huge" b***k. Enjoy - Scott

"Misdirection Monte" is the perfect routine to use the underground change.
Thanks Jamie Badman! |

The Underground Change isn't a replacement for the Curry Change - since it achieves something different.
The best handling of the Curry Change is Marlo's 'Breakless Curry' which is also described in the Underground Change manuscript (some of the text from 'The Hierophant' courtesy of Jon Racherbaumer). Cheers, Jamie.

Jamie, have you or can you make a video teach of the move. I really am not picking it up too well. I would love to be able to perform misdirection monte but cant as I cant do the move. A visual aid might be better here. Thanks

I have no plans to do this currently but if you mail me a vid of your work so far I'm more than happy to help out - and answer any questions you may have.
In addition, if I'm ever at a convention and we meet, I'm always more than willing to teach the move. Sorry 'bout the lack of video though. I did once film it but it was about 120mb when I'd done and even compressing down it was way to big for the net. Jamie.

Christopher,
I learnt the move by watching the movie for the misdirection monte, and playing around with the Breakless Curry Turnover - the secret I think is to use Jamie's booklet to find out the exact finger placements, and then practice in a mirror, concentrating on making the move look like it does on the misdirection monte demo. Hope that helps? Liam. |

You pretty much need a close up mat to do this, no? That could be your problem.

Well, all I know is I still can not do it. If anyone can send a video teaching I would be more than appreciative.

Finger placement is crucial. A close-up mat helps but a decent tablecloth is enough.
Have you got it working yet Chris ? Cheers, Jamie.

Yes thanks Jamie. All is working smooth now. Im even using this in the shop now, I have got that confident with it. I picked it up so much quicker when you showed me, so thank you very much for that, its such a lovely move. Being able to switch a card with 1 hand looks hard enough to some people, but when you have a deck in hand, they must then think it is impossible. Its an impossible killer tool
Thanks Jamie |
