Hi Jeff,
There are no videos of my material on the web. A DVD of the routines and sleights is a future project. However I thought in the meantime it would be helpful to provide the purchasers of the book an additional resource to help learn the individual sleights. I am working on a making a CD consisting of short video clips which will demonstate what the sleights and a few routines should look like to the audience. It won't be a teaching video. These will be MPG clips which are fairly large files. These will be available only to current and prior purchasers of the book for a nominal charge (basically my cost for postage and the media). When it's available for distibution, I'll inform you and other buyers on how to get one. |

OK. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I'll just wait here in great anticipation. <grin>
Really, that's a wonderful idea and a fine gesture. Please let me know when it's available. Thank you! Jeff

Started to film the sleights for the CD. I expect a few weeks from now I should have the companion CDs duplicated and available for delivery. I'll keep you all posted.

Section Two consists of the routines or "Applied Mechanics."
Ch 15: This is called Copper Silver By Brute Force. This is very quick transposition of a copper and silver coin using the FCOP and the Bertram Multiple Coin Changeover Palm. The work is already done as you describe to the spectator what to expect. This can also be done with a coin and a second object like a ring or maybe a small ball. This is a great quickie. Ch16: In Four Coins To Pocket the coins one at a time vanish from the hand and migrate to the pocket. Only four coins are used. The FCOP and the FCOP Vanish are needed along with the Retention Trip Vanish. It's here Larry teaches the FCOP false count which is IMO extremely deceptive. There is another false count called the Flying False Count which can be used instead but I prefer the one with the FCOP. The routine flows very smoothly and each action is covered by the appropriate patter and appears very fair. The final coin vanish is not done with a retention vanish. Instead the coin is placed in the palm and the hand closed. A tap with a wand or pencil makes it happen. This is a variant of the FCOP Vanish. It is nothing like the Strike Vanish or anything else I've seen. It's explained back in Ch. 3. This is nothing short of brilliant and so different in method from anything else I've come across. Ch17: Boomerang Coins is a coins across effect done with four silver dollars. The first three coins travel from left to right one at a time. The hands never actually touch. The last coin never goes and instead the other 3 boomerang back to the left. A similar effect was The Travelers in Tarbell 7 and it was also used in Stars of Magic by Ross Bertram. It uses the same two moves used in Copper Silver By Brute Force and some additional handlings. I really like this routine and plan on using it alot. Larry also gives a version with five coins which allows for some extra convincers but I think I'll stick with four coins. It's great to be able to do magic with coins that are examinable and not have to hold anything out. Well, that's what I've read and practiced so far. I too am looking forward to the CD showing how the sleights should be done. |

Thanks boxjumper for your continuing review of my book. I'm delighted that you've found the Flying Changeover Palm false count to be a useful tool. By my calculation, you should be reading now Coins From Vegas. It's the hardest routine in the book so take your time with it.

Larry I received your book and the coin. Thank you very much. I love the coin it is my favorite now in my every day practice. The information in your book is of top quality. The title for the book is a perfect description of its content because it is really and evolution of sleights and mechanics from the 20th to the 21st century.
I higly recommend this book to the serious coin worker. If you implement this sleight in your routines or even perform some of Larrys ideas you will take your coin magic to a higher level. Joaquin |

Update:
I've completed filming the sleights for the companion video CD. As mentioned elsewhere, this will consist of MPEG video clips that you can play on a PC. I need to have these duplicated so I estimate they will be ready to ship in about a week. For those who have the book, the cost of the CD will be $6.00 and that includes shipping worldwide. If you wish to purchase the book and the CD together the total will be $56.00 plus shipping ($3.00 US, $7.50 Canada, $16.00 Europe and Asia). If you wish to pre-order, I will ship the CD or the Book/CD as soon as the CD is available, with those pre-ordering getting the CD or CD/Book first. ...I now have a firm date for shipping the video CD and video CD/book combo. I will be shipping them Monday October 24. I have all the CDs, envelopes, mailers, stamps etc. but they are in Cooperstown, and I am in Manhattan all this week. ...There are 28 short MPEG video clips which demonstrate how each of the moves and variations of moves should look. They correspond to the sleights taught in the first 14 chapters of the book. I have also included a longer video of me performing Coins From Vegas which allows you to see many of the sleights used in performance. There is also a Word document on the CD which gives some background on when and why the moves were developed. ....As stated in a prior post, I will be accepting orders and they will be filled in the order received. And yes, I still have a supply of Chinese coins for Café members which comes with each book. Thanks again for your interest. Larry |

Hey Larry,
Considering that you have now put together non-instructional video files of some of the routines in the book, how about putting them out for all the fence-sitters (such as myself) to have a glimpse at your material? I have been putting off purchasing your book due to the expense, and the fact that I had never heard of you (I apologize but its the truth). If you were to post some video files it would go a long way towards convincing me to finally put my money where my mouth is. |

Hi Shikena,
I am not surprised or offended that you've never heard of me because I've tried to keep a low profile in the magic community. I rarely perform or interact with other magicians preferring to do magic for "real" audiences which I've done for more than 40 years including close-up, strolling, parlor, and stage magic. Few people know that for years my main area of expertise was card manipulations. Placing video material on the Net is an effective way of attracting customers. It also attracts copyists and tends to make something into a commodity rather than something unique. I want to keep my material somewhat exclusive (to the extent that can practically done) to the purchasers of this limited edition book. I never intended to promote the book with video clips, but I made the CD after the book was published because my customers asked me to do that, as an aid in learning some of the more difficult moves. Some promote their wares with video and that fine but it's not what I've chosen to do. My book seems to be selling fine using this approach. We've shipped books and CDs all over the world with the most recent going to Brazil and Hong Kong. By the way, the CD is copyrighted and I've asked my customers to not violate that copyright by posting these clips on the net. Thanks for your quesstion. Larry |

Thanks Oliver and BJ for those kind remarks. I'll be in Manhattan tomorrow through the weekend and I'll be getting some more of those Chinese silver dollar size coins from my source in Chinatown. My website just went past 4000 hits. I'd like to thank also all those who have sent complimentary emails and PMs regarding my book and video CD. And an apology to Martin in the UK who somehow got a CD with no data on it. A new one is on the way.

Seven years after its publication I purchased Larry's "21st century coin mechanics", I can't say enough how happy I am with this incredible book! Working on the vanishes for two weeks now, how clever and natural these moves are! I never thought I would work with dollar size coins one day, but Larry made it up! Thanks a lot for sharing this material, sir!
