The Amazing Todsky, a well known and respected Montreal magician for over 25 years, is seriously considering getting out of the magic business for good, to pursue other interests which include writing walking women, close-up magic cooking music mountains. I wish him well.

Todsky, if you find any writing walking women you could send my way, please do.
Enjoy your retirement from magic. Take care,

Well, I might just re-emerge with my guitar at my magic shows, since I play my guitar 15 hours a week and practice magic 15 minutes a week. And if there are any walking writing women out there, they shall surely come to understand that magicians are not just guys with fancy magic wands; sometimes we have silly magic wands as well. Thanks, Bill. I'm in a transitional. Pardon my strange syntax.

I knew that there were taxes in Canada that we did not have down here. But a syntax? That's really unreasonable.
Seriously, I spent three weeks in Montreal back in 1970. I was playing keyboards, banjo and guitar with a group that worked at Norm Silver's Moustache club on Closse, right across from the Forum. I was about 3 or 4 blocks from where James Cross was released on Dec, 3 of that year. Things have changed a lot since then, Good luck with your guitar.

Tobacco is taxed very highly here, and some people here actually do refer to that as the Sin Tax. The Moustache Club, that pre-dates me, but I do remember James Cross and the FLQ in 1970, and bombs in letter boxes. Happy to say that the separation movement here in Quebec is more discussion and less violent these days. It's funny, there seem to be so many magicians who are also musicians. Do you still play, Bill?

Just for the record, I decided to keep the magic going for now, because I realized that as much as I'd like to do music full-time, as well as writing, I have to pay my rent. But I have found a happy compromise for now: I'm adding a great portable sound system to my show, which will play music and sound effects, and I will be choreographing my magic to music. And eventually I will write the Great Canadian Novel, and maybe then I shall retire my magic show.
All the best! -Todd

Magic is not about props and capes. There are other forms, ways and media where magic can be performed and offered to audiences. Do your work as best suits you. Best wishes, Jonathan

Jonathan you make a very good point here. Hope Todd considers working the two talents together into a performace.

Some kind of theatrical presentation, where the story is the focus, magic is used as illustration, and song is interspersed. Sounds like I'm going towards magical musical theatre, which would perfectly combine my love for writing, music and magic. I may need a sabbatical to develop this concept.
Thank you Bill, Jonathan and Joe for your support!
