Hi Guys,
Has anyone got one of these? Or have seen this live? I've been looking for a visual cutting in half for ages and was waiting to see what Peter had come up with with this one! Not sure about it......what do you think? |

I watched the video and it doesn't look that powerful to me. I even try to look beyond the video to see if the apparatus itself could be used in additional ways. My opinion is save your money and get something that has a better entertainment value.

I disagree. What Peter presented in the video was a video to emphasize the effect, not the potential theatrics of it. With proper blocking and patter, "Twist Off" could really be an amazingly powerful illusion. Just imagine the faces of the audience members as you twist your assistant, and then (with some noticable effort) push her torso right off of her legs. I dare say you could get gasps if you made sure to put a story behind it, so it wasn't just an effect for the sake of an effect. That's just my $.02 though.

Sean,
This illusion looks nice and I'm sure built well. Here the people thinking as magician, they figure out things and some of them give you good some of them bad review as you see already. I think the best way to find out how good is it if you show the demo video to friends, coworkers, family, etc. Even you can see their faces how they react. That is the real review. that's what you'll get from the audience and you can decide to buy the illusion or not. Best |

Hi Guys,
I showed a colleague last night what he thought and he pointed out the obvious straight away and wasn't impressed! I'm trying to look through this but keep thinking that if peter couldn't wow me or my colleague in his promo vid then I'm not sure it's got potential. I don't know......I would like to see another demo of this, maybe with another performer. BTW I have nothing against Peter and really like some of his other effects, so Peter if ur reading please don't take offence mate. Regards Sean PS Jamie Allen..... I haven't seen that face for a few years....How's it going bud? What do you rekon to this effect? |

To me the design makes the assitant look like they have some fat legs. It kind of looks like the one of the first models of modern art from the modern art book.

For me I like the effect. It has great potential. Peter is a very nice guy and a great builder. I think that this will be one of those effects that we will continue to see down the road. One that will develop and grow over time, yet maintain the same overal effect. Similar to the sawing in half, from Dante to Pendragons, same effect, she's cut in two, but the asthetics have changed.
Overall I like it and am considering it. Just gotta make sure my gal doesn't know I wanna buy a new toy Matt |

Didn't impress me at all. Very obvious method. A complete waste of money as its very over priced. Hope I'm not too over the top if I use the term 'Rubbish' !!!!!!

Here is Ahmed El bayed performing the illusion in his live show:
http://www.ahmedshow.com Just go to the gallery His video will give you a true feel for the illusion on a stage and see the reaction the illusion gets from a real audience. On a side note he also has a video performance of our shadow box and my Iron Garotte in a tv spot. P.

I saw the video on Peter's site.. and I saw the video he suggested... and I don't think it's a very good trick.

Well the bottom line is Ahmed's audience loved it as evident in his video! And that's what its all about. So it really doesn't matter what us magicians think is a good trick, unless of course that's all you perform for I guess.

I am a fan of Peter's "Ideas". I say "Ideas" because I don't own any of his effects so have no right to comment on the props.
I think he comes up with unique ideas, for ex " Rainmaker". I have been holding myself from making the following comment for these reasons but... I think Twist off is a step backward from Modern art. It does not look deceptive at all. I am very sorry Peter for making this comment because I really do like your work. { Friends of mine use your products and like it} but Twist off is way off. |

I have to say I was unimpressed as well.
Timing was bad on the demo. I believe a layman will figure it out too easily. Couldn't find the clip at Ahmed's site. It's not in the gallery any longer.

The video is there. All of the videos are .zip files though, so you need to download, then un-zip them to watch. The direct link to the .zip file is here: http://www.ahmedshow.com/video/Twist_Off.zip
