Hi,
I'm starting to do magic with spongeballs, and I want to buy a booklet or a DVD. I'm thinking of Patrick Page's Secret Seminars 5, the DVD Amazing Magic Tricks with Spongeballs or the little book from Magic City: Library of Magic Vol. 9, Spongeballs. The DVD's are 15 euro and the book 7.50 euro. What do you guys think?

If you can find a copy of The Sponge Book by Laurie Ireland, that has a lot of good stuff in it. Also, if you can read German, the Garcia book is still available in German. It's the best.
The Pat Page DVD should be part of your library as well. Get 'em all!

Both above suggestions are useful. Go to http://www.magicbooksbypost.co.uk/ and Search on "sponge" - the Jensen book is great too. There's also a routine by some guy called Ken Brookes, but I've never heard oif him ;-)

I love Garcia's Encyclopedia. You can still find it on ebay and sometimes with a google search, but be prepared to pay a pretty penny for it. If you look around you can still find Garcia's Sponge Ball pamphlet for about $6 - $10, but it doesn't come close to the Encyclopedia (and is, frankly, a bit disjointed). He does a nice routine on the Stars of Magic video too.

Of the DVD's Patrick Page's is best by far. The Amazing tricks I found to be shot rather poorly with the action too close to the bottom of the frame, and sometimes partially out of frame. It also seemed darkly lit (is that an oxymoron?)
As for the Frank Garcia book I saw it listed twice on Google one copy for $625 and another for a measly $300. Next year marks 30 years since it was published (1976). Let's hope the copyright holder is asleep and the always enterprising Dover books rescues it for the rest of us. Frank Tougas

I would start off with a dvd because it makes things more understanding. And Patrick Page's dvd is a good one to start with as Frank mentioned above. Goshman's video is an another one to start off with. If you enjoy it you will be buying more because of the interest.

I have The Sponge Book and also "Sponge Ball Manipulation" by Audley V. Walsh. Isn't the former available from Magic Inc. still?

Not necessarily in that order.
I started with carney's and I'm glad I did and with just 2 balls, you're up and running in short order. plus some good theory and misdirection tips.

Since Rickzzz is in the Netherlands, there is a fairly good chance that he can read German. Many Dutch do. The German edition of the Garcia book is still in print and is relatively inexpensive.
