Hi Dean
With the many close-up venues magicians work in, such as table hopping, strolling, etc., what area do you most enjoy and why?

Thanks
Steve

I think I enjoy performing for a group of 20 to 30 people the most. A close-up show is what you would call it. The inter-reaction between the magician and the audience is really fun. I love to stroll at banquet parties from table to table. I usually have full control in that type of situation. You can feel who is going to respond the best. It takes awhile to get the pace down but once you do it can be very satisfying. It can be miserable also if the people could care less. But, that can be a good challange also. To see what we are really made of, as magicians. Dean

Hi Dean,

In situations where people are mulling about and not really at tables, how much do you vary what you do in effects and your approach? Do you find or bring a table and invite guests over to it and do your magic there for everyone or just a few at a time?

I'm trying to understand how you adapt to different venues. I'm guessing you try and have at least one table to be your "stage" and invite a few guests to be with you there, while everyone else watches on. Kind of like the Tonight Show.

Thanks, John

John I always bring a strolling table with me. It is a very solid table that has a compartment in the back to store things. I put my large close up pad on top of the table. Sometimes I use it and sometimes I don't. But I love having the possibility. That way I can do my coin assemblies. I am in Heaven when I have my pad with me. Thanks for asking, Dean

Hey, you're not in Heaven yet, man!
And don't be in a hurry to go, ok?
