I have to say that I have put more mileage into Spotlight than any trick I own. It is a great opener to my standup shows and a perfect strolling trick. I can do it when the music is blasting and I can do it with patter. It resets instantly. Plus I follow it with sponge balls. I also enjoy doing my pen thru bill from my book. It starts with my silk production from a borrowed and signed bill then goes into pen thru. I love that effect and am looking for an in-the-hands one that can withstand angles, etc. (stolling, table hopping, etc.). Does one of your versions of this effect fit this criteria, or would you recommend the source of such a version of this effect? Paul Gertner does the same basic trick using a spectators ring as the target. Check out his book "Steel and Silver" I think it is in there. I read the description on the detail, but I missed you performing it in San Diego this year. Like the explosion post, I would be curious to hear others describe the effect. I am not entirely sure what the spectator sees, however, with your name behind it I am sure that it is first class magic. You start with a small pen flashlight, shining it into your fist making your hand glow red. Once you open your hand you have produced a little red sponge ball. Then you shine the light on and off into the the sponge ball lighting it up. When you turn off the light the sponge ball is still lit up. you can toss the light from flashlight to sponge ball or even pluck the light right out of the sponge ball with your fingers. The routine incorporates the use of a sponge ball, a flashlight and the Dlite. It does not come with the Dlite. I assume everyone knows what the Dlite does by now. I have an extensive routine written up in my book, Intimate Miracles. The trick comes with a gimmicked ball and regular ball and the penlight. The instructions show the basic routine. Spotlight has a lot of room for creativity. It plays a lot better than it reads. I stake my reputation on that.
