Gregory Wilson In Action vol.1. So full of great impromptu card+coin items. David Regal's first DVD set is just spectatcular. A lot is gimmicked so I wont use a lot of it but he is really a great thinker-gives you inspiration for your own tricks. Paul Harris' Stars of magic video set is great too.

There you get tricks and just as importantly, presentational ideas that work.

After that, if you feel there are slights you need to know but did not learn
from those fine offerings, then get Daryl's Encyclopedia to fill in the blanks.

Frank is a mentalist as well. Those would have to be the best to get while starting out. I have had all of Easons VHS and still went out and just recently reordered them on DVD.

Yes I am.
I was also going to recommend the Marotta tape as well for presentational ideas and for "repeat escape" but I thought if I mentioned that one, you would have known that I was a real mind reader and not just a mentalist. I left it off the list so you wouldn't freak out and puke on your shoes.

Once you've got the basics, and fancy trying something a little different and challenging - Lennart Green's yer man.

I forgot to mention Harry Lorayne's DVDs and David Williamson's DVDs.

Also Michael Ammar's DVDs are very good, which include lots of classic routines.

Personally, I don't think watching DVDs is the best learning method for basic moves. You need to study each finger's position carefully and Card College is the best.

The Michael Ammar DVD series gets my vote. A wide variety of classic and newer effects that include most of the sleights that one would ever want to learn. Some of the DVD's even include the gaffs that you need to perform the effect.

I had neck problems a couple of years ago and lost partial feeling in my right hand. As a result, I became a major fan of Rene Lavand and have learned one hand card magic. His DVD's are a true inspiriation.

ETMCM by Michael Ammar. For about 8 volumes are more than enough.

Add: Lennert Green's "Green Lite", "Fechter's Aces", and "Million Dollar Card Secrets" to the list. The last one is particularly good if you have the Frank Garcia book to go with it.

Ammar's "Easy To Master Card Miracles" is an excellent set of DVDs!
There is sooooooo much quality card magic in this 9 volume series.
