Just a quick question to those who have begun the project. I'm having a huge problem locating black moleskin with satin backing. Can anyone private message me and give me the heads up on a supplier? Thanks so much everybody!

Wow...am I the only one moving forward with this illusion? ;-p Anyhow, I answered my own question and found a few more options. So if anyone ever needs help, feel free to send me over a question. I should be completed over the next week or so with mine. Good luck everybody!

I guess I am like most people that bought the DVD. Interest has faded after finding out how much it takes to make it. I thought about modifying a over sized pair of pants. Ialso want to turn it around icarus style. So how are is yours coming?

[First post! woohoo!] OK to, the point...
I bought the dvd, thought it was an awsome trick, and I too am looking into building it. (Got it recently) Although, I am slightly confused on some of the prep, I am pretty sure I will be looking for someone who can help me with the BASIC part of it. As for the moleskin, where did you locate it? Was is somthing you couldn't find at a local store or did it have to be ordered? If you could let me know...that would be great! Thanks. -Seeker
I've been training these cards since they were small.

Joanne Fabrics was were I was finally able to locate the moleskin w/satin backing. They're a great resource for a lot of the materials you'll need.

I just think that the effect is not really that good. You have to wear around crazy pants all day. Unless you dress like criss angel it is hard to hide.

It's actually a very clever method of levitation. I can understand not wanting to go through the construction of the gimmick, but don't knock the effect itself. It's one of the most convincing levitations I've seen so far.

Yes the levitation itself in performance is fantastic. I love it. The problem is you have to wear pants that look like you are about to go try and fly. Nothing like wierd little wings for pants. It is just not practical. I really wish it was.

I agree with everyone here. After watching the DVD, I think I'm not going to do this effect. I'm just too lazy to build the thing
Great effect though.
Nice to meet you

If made right, the pants don't look too bad. Problem is, they have to fit with your style. If jeans are your normal thing, this is not for you. This is the down fall of the effect

Definitely valid concerns. But like Criss says, if you're self-conscious about wearing the pants, it'll definitely show. Then there's much more of a likelyhood that someone will point out the flaw in the pants. Then again, the more self-conscious and nervous you are about doing any illusion, the greater the chance of error, no? I just figure, for such a high priced DVD, I'm going to get my moneys worth come hell or high water.

I wore the pants, and I was walkin' kinda funny in them, and no one looked twice... just don't perform for people you know really well otherwise they'll ask, if its not your style... otherwise, just go out in public dressed in all black, look goth-like, and perform, no one will think about your clothing.

Its an awesome effect... don't knock it just cause it needs some hard work
Imagine that! magic is hard work! Use your head- I have devised an improved pair of pants that can be made from existing pants and don't have any obvious "giveaway wings". NO pm's please LOL... I am considering contacting Criss with this, it's that good. I don't know if Icarus has the same flaw since I don't have it but I suspect there is an issue there from posts I have read. ...would also work with Fearson's fantastic floatation. I am surprised noone has mentioned FFF since both seem to have a heavy ancestry to it. |

I just don't like the angles. I have a reputation where if I do a levitation to a person one on one, I will get a crowd of people who want to see it at once. I just don't think the levitation is practical. It is a great effect, but it take too much to build and the performance is limited.

Codysf,
If you were trying to do a levitation as a one on one, wouldn't you have already finished the levitation before the crowd gathers? Crowds usually don't gather around two people talking... Steven |

I think the effect is a great one- but the gimmick could do with a lot of refinements in my humble opinion - I don't believe in the "no one will notice " thing- I mean you have to show up-do the effect and then leave- it pretty much restricts a lot of stuff..like dancing (lol) or SITTING around with your buddies have a few cold ones.
and now MacGyver provides this weeks BATTLE OF THE LAYMEN : http://uplink.space.com/printthread.php?......e=thread enjoy! |
