Did a search nothing really came up. Looking for a really good book that doesn't have anything to do with cards. Nothing for beginers either. Thanks

Good is a matter of opinion.
Martin Gardner's "Encyclopedia of Impromptu Magic" has tons of stuff and no cards. Coin books and videos may be good for you. J.B. Bobo's "Modern Coin Magic" is a must if you don't already own it. There are also videos by Dan Harlan, Gregory Wilson, Tom Mullica and others who have worked exclusively on impromptu tricks. |

He was giving you his opinion. And if you ask me, you're not worthy of it.

He was being a smart ass with that comment. Asking somebody if they know of a good book to read is perfectly acceptable unless your being sarcastic and critical. I do appreciate him sharing his opinions but not his facts.

Like I replied to your I.M. I apoligize if I took your words out of context. There are a lot of cocky people on here and its hard to differ them by only words.

Michael Weber's LifeSavers has some nice items in it. I know you're asking about books, but there are some great DVDs on this, such as Greg Wilson's On the Spot. Top notch impromptu magic, and totally real world stuff!

Omigod... Jaz is without one of the most even-tempered, mild-mannered, and helpful people on this board.
For reference, I am an ill-tempered, sarcastic smart-a*s. Review his posts versus mine for better perspective on the spectrum. Toward the topic, you should look for material from Tom Mullica. And Emily Post.* Regards, -jjg *See? |

Other than the Gardner book that Jaz mentioned, and Bobo's, there's the Mark Wilson Course in magic.
I'm partial to The Edge Of The Stage, because I wrote it, but it's out of print. In it, I suggested a trip to the local public library was worthwhile because many of the have magic books that are targeted at the general public, and so don't require special props. Which means, lots of impromptu stuff, or nearly so... |

I'd recommend any of the Karl Fulves "Self-Working" series published by Dover, especially "Self-Working Table Magic" and "Self-Working Paper Magic".

Tom Mullica has some brilliant stuff, I has one DVD, if I recall, only based on impromptu magic tricks, some are a bit easy but surprisingly you get some really good reactions out of it! Those DVD's are not so easy to find anymore tho.

Post like this reminde me .....
Many years ago (before the Internet) I ran a BBS system on FidoNet. the main code of conduct on Fidonet could be summed up as 1) Thou shalt not excessively annoy others. 2) Thou shalt not be too easily annoyed. In other words, there are no hard and fast rules of conduct, but reasonably polite behavior is expected. Just a thought, |
