Okay, I saw a closeup artist perform this illusion in a restaraunt, and I loved it, but I don't know what it is called. Maybe you fine folks can help me out. I'm not sure if it was slight or gimmick, but this is how it went:
He had a $1 bill and a $5 bill, folded in forths. He then put the one in his right hand, and the 5 in his left hand, closed his hands, and they switched. I assumed it was a "scotch and soda" type gimmick, 'cause I do a simmilar thing with my "scotch and soda", But I was wrong. The spec grabbed the bills out of the magician's hands and unfolded them, and they were actually real $1 and $5. I was one table over, and I saw the bills from a short distance. THEN, the magician said "Here, I'll do it in YOUR hands. The magician placed both bills in the specs right hand, and told the spec to close his hand into a loose fist. The spec did this. The magician pulled the $1 out of the specs right hand and placed it in the specs left hand, and had him close his left hand. Then, the magician said "Now, which one of YOUR hands is the $1 in?". The spec said "My Left". The spec opened his Left hand to find the $5, and his right hand contained the $1. The spec again unfolded both bills and examined them. From my table, everything looked normal. I am not, by any means, asking for the secret to be exposed. But I would love to know what this is called, and is it gimmicked, or just really good slight? Sorry this is so long. Mike

UF Grant's Slo-Motion Bill Change.
Eugene Burger is very fond of this, and sells an "ultimate" version, called "Eugene's Last Dollar". There's an interesting variation on Joshua Jay's recent set of DVDs from L&L Publishing that ends with the production/transformation of one of the bills into a third bill (from a different country). I think that's a really bad idea, but the method Josh uses is great, and only a little bit harder than the standard method. You should be able to get the original Grant handling from Magic Inc. for a few dollars. I think it's still in print. Or order the version Eugene sells (it's actually someone else's handling, and a different gaff). |

You can find the effect that Eugene performs in David Parr's book "Brain Food". David also sells the trick on his website at http://www.davidparr.com/products.php

I was a little wrong on this effect. Eugene used to perform the David Parr version but is now using the Patrick Murphy version which he sells on his site at http://www.magicbeard.com/
Same effect but slightly different handling and gaff. |

There is also a similar effect on Ammars Easy to master money miracles 2 called 'Beswitched.'
With this effect you do the in the hands transposition, but if they snatch the bills out of your hand like that spectator did, your screwed. |

I have used Beswitched by George Hample and carry it in my closeup case but it uses a gimmick bill that can't be handed out. With Eugene's last dollar you can borrow both bills.

Paul Harris also has an effect that is similar in his books, you start with a bill folded a special way and borrow a bill of a different value, at the end both bills can be handed out...I believe it is called Buck Naked...i may be wrong.
No matter How much you know you can never stop learning.
