On volume one of Daryl’s Encyclopedia of Card Sleights, he shows a ‘transparent deck’. They look semi-transparent from the back and normal faces, using the same print principle as found on some ads printed on public transport vehicle windows, etc. Daryl mentions they’re Japanese.
Anyone seen these, know of a distributor, preferably a UK one? Cheers, Nick. |

I remember seeing Daryl demo those... but haven't ever come across anything similar for sale. Did see these on ebay the other day though...

You are thinking of Ton Onosaka's Card Mirage. I was able to find a few sets of these at Miagic Inc. in chicago for about $10.00 a set. The sets consist of three cards that look like a bunch of dots printed on them and one which "changes" into the selected card. They are very well made and when used on a black mat are very convincing. There are pictures here - http://www.martinsmagic.com/?html=full&a......ey=2033#

Wonderful, that's the puppies. Do you only get three of them though? I was hoping for a full deck of these.

For your information: Transparent Cards are the invention of Johann Nepomuk Hofzinser (1806-1875)

I was at the Blackpool Magic Convention this month where they were selling packs of these cards which from memory were Bicycle decks. They are see through but you can't read the cards from the back.
They weren't expensive and they were full decks. |

hes not talking about those hes talking about one that looks clear and then you turn them over and it looks like an entire regular card.
you can fool all of the people some of the time and some of the people all the time but never all of the people all the time.

Yes, It is card mirage from Onosaka you're talking about. I found one set right here in the sales section one week ago. Keep your eyes open and... try a google search
Jonathan. PS, I don't know the orifginal routining of the trick, but John Georges use them in a very nice trick in his DVD "close-up, vol.1"... |

That's the exact ones, thanks guys. They are still available from dealers US and UK, along with the usual transparent bikes also. Double thanks to brokin6 for the extra help - my order's in!
