Tim, in the past you have mentioned that you think Melbourne's Magic Week ran its' course, you have also mentioned some other reasons for its demise. Many years have passed now tho' and I was wondering if you would ever consider doing something similar again?

www.stardockmagi.blogspot.com I picture a world of love and peace, a world without war where people live together in harmony. I also picture us attacking that world 'cause they just wouldn't expect it |

Magic Week was an amazing time. It was the 'National Festival of the Magical Arts' and it ran for nine straight years and really lifted the profile of magic here in Australia.
Personally, no, I can't see myself running anything on that scale again, however that's not to say I wouldn't give my support to anyone else who wanted to tackle it. http://www.magicunlimited.com/Magic%20Week.htm The idea behind Magic Week was that magic would get much more publicity if the public saw a large number of magicians getting together and celebrating their artform rather than just one or two guys putting on a show... and it worked. But by the end of it's run it became harder and harder to get magicians "excited" about sharing the spotlight... maybe the whole "community" feel just died out... maybe it is time to bring it back again? However, there was one other major change that contributed to the demise of Magic Week. Initially it was very easy to get lots of free publicity simply by calling up the mewspapers and letting them know it was Magic Week time again... they were eager to write stories about it. But near the end of it's run the newspapers had a change of policy and all of my calls were being redirected from editorial to the advertising department. They were still keen to write about Magic Week, as long as I purchased advertising space to go along with the stories.
