Michael, there are at least two effects on the easy to master money series that give me a problem for a particular reason. They are Sensory Control, and Incredible Coins Across. The reason I have a problem with them is the fact that in order to truly practice them, I need a real human subject!(They involve spectator's hands and arms and other such things.) Obviously, when I am learning these effects, I am alone in my practice room, and the spectator is only imaginary! This doesn't really help me to get the effect down pat to the point where I even have the courage to pull it off on a real flesh and blood spectator! The only thing I can do during this phase is imagine in my HEAD what I will be doing when I am faced with a real spectator! (But somehow, that doesn't cut it.)
How did you learn and perfect these two effects? Did you continually enlist the help of family members until there were no more family members left to volunteer?? Did you use a manequin? It seems like a catch twenty two! Any advice would be appreciated, especially tips on how you personally perfected the effects! Thankyou
The difficult must become easy, the easy beautiful and the beautiful magical.

Hi Doug,
Boy, you've hit the nail on the head with this. How do you practice things like this, or the watch steal, without totally wearing out your friends, family or significant other... It sure helps to have a magic friend for things like this, and you just take turns performing for each other. It actually shouldn't take too long with any one person if you spread it around, but in the end, it comes back to this cliche' -- everyone needs some place to be bad. Because before you get good at anything, you've got to test run it through the learning experience. I wish I had some profound advice that could make this easier to deal with, but in the end, there is no getting around the need to get up close to someone to perform these things over and over. |
