I know a man with your experience and talent has gone to pretty much every continent in the world, and you will have met a vast amount of magicians, but who is your favourite. You may have a few or find it hard to choose, but just one, your all time favourite!! WHO IS IT?

As I mentioned in a previous message, I really try to avoid ranking my friends on a list of favorites. I know so many of these performers on a personal level, and I appreciate the subtle distinctions that make so many of them special, that it feels weird to try and put them into some kind of food chain!
Even as I sit and think about a list of favorite performers that have passed away, every 30 seconds I remember another that should've been on the list! |

I find lists impossible to assemble. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. How could there possibly be one "best"?

Great answer, Michael! I always look at someone when they ask me that question and respond with, "Well, let me ask you - who is your favorite athlete or what's your favorite place?" People then start to get the idea that not only are there different kinds of magic, but there are different people who do their magic in different ways.
Ask any football nut who is the greatest football player and he will ask, "at what position?" To me, in magic, it's the same thing. In what kind of magic and in what era? Living or dead, professional or mamteur, performer or inventor, close-up, illusionist, mentalist, bird-worker or escapologist, manipulator of comedic platform performer or tradeshow specialist? You have short-formed the answer that used to take me almost three minutes to answer. Thanks! Lee Darrow, C.H.

The best footballer in the world Lee is Thierry Henry, no doubt about it, though, in America, it would be Soccer

Tell that to Pele'! LOL!
But we're heading off topic and I know just how dangerous UK "football" fans can be. When I was in the UK, the year the Chicago Bears won the Super Bowl and then visited the UK, many of the people over there came up to me and said, "NOW we understand why Americans wear pads when playing that game! Those guys are MONSTERS! We've never SEEN people so BIG!" So................. I believe I just proved my point - again. Lee Darrow, C.H.
