Hi Michael,
Your web site biography mentions that your interest in magic was sparked by a comic book advert that read '500 tricks for 25 cents!' (It says you ordered a catalogue and began buying tricks.) I was wondering whether you recall what your first purchase was and is there an effect you got from that catalogue that you would still perform today? If so, which one? Thank you.

The ad was for a catalog from DOUGLAS MAGICLAND, in Dallas, Texas. What a wonderful time that was, reading every ad on every page! I made some bad choices just like everyone does early on -- one of the things you learn first is how carefully you have to read the ad to be sure of what you are getting!
Pretty soon I realized the best value was in the books, so I scooped up EXPERT CARD TECHNIQUE, SCARNE ON CARDS, and STARS OF MAGIC as some of my first purchases. Pretty good choices, huh?

Micheal,
Can you confirm a quote that I've heard attributed to you?
"When I first read Expert Card Technique, I thought it was a work of fiction."
