I bought the pdf of the effect from Vince.
The effect looks great, but is it just me or does anyone else have any problems making the band look the way it should if you know what I mean. I've done this a few times for people and they all have said "hey, why is the band ......." |

Hi Boydy
Are you using a #19 rubber band? After I do the move I like to first display the rubber band using an 8 finger hold, before I release the ring. I suggest you get it good, and tight around your left index finger, practice in slow motion until the move becomes second nature to you, and you do need at least a three foot buffer for it to look it's best. HAVE FUN Al Angello

Hiya folks,
Thanks for the continued interest in the FLRT Manuscript, I’m very happy that it has been received as well as it has and I was really thrilled when one of my first magical idols commented on it positively. Now, there’s no relation, but John Mendoza gave me two big thumbs up on this work and I’m very honored by that. You all know that I had some family matters that I had to attend to a little while back. I want to thank everyone for their condolences, the family has been moving through the grieving process. Most of my family has left for the Philippines for a sort of reunion, unfortunately, I have to stay behind. Now to address the DVD – At present, I am jammed up with bookings through the end of summer and most of my energies will be focused there. I won’t give another estimated release date other than to say that it will be before years end. I’m glad that I didn’t take any pre-orders like I was being urged to. Also, just as a general bulletin to anyone who purchased FLRT and ordered rubber bands but DID NOT get them, please contact me with the original email address you used to order them from. I’m doing an internal audit because another family member who was entrusted to package and send out the rubber bands was very derelict in their duties and did not send out a bunch of orders. Please drop me a not at: rubberbands@flipsideproductions.com I know those of you who have purchased the manuscript are wondering what could possibly be different. I know that I’ve personally been disappointed after seeing effects I’ve learned in print, explained in on DVD. Usually, a lot of detail has been left out. Well, if you own the manuscript, then you’ll appreciate that I’m striving for an equal or greater level for DVD production. I have quite a few friends telling me to just put it out there, but I’m quite a bit more discriminating than that. Now as to what will be on the DVD: - The original handling as it appears in the FLRT Manuscript. - A new streamlined version, making the linking process even faster. - Tips on how to make the linking process virtually invisible. (I’ve received a number of video clips of you doing FLRT and I’m again; very honored, but a bunch of you are flashing, and although you can get away with it, on some level, you’re audiences can tell what you’re doing.) - FOUND LINK has pretty much remained the same, with and added preamble. - RHING THING has evolved into a eight phase routine that includes an opening preamble that: - (1) links the ring to one strand - (2) penetrates through the second strand - (3) passes back onto one strand - (4) display in one hand – using a brand new SECURED ELMO display that allow you to… - (5) pluck the ring off of the single strand (ala Pinnacle “gimmicked” miracle finish, except now you can do it UNGIMMICKED) - (6) display the freed ring and then just - (7) melt the ring back into an ELMO - (8) finally, you can release the ring from the band right under the spectator’s nose. - BUSTED – a torn and restored rubber band – This move can be used in other routines including Vinny Marini’s adaptation of it in his Broken Bracelet. - LIQUID BAND TOO – My re-tooling and handling of Vinny’s Liquid Penetration. - (1) Penetration of a rubber band onto an object (pen, pencil, wand, etc) - (2) Then having that strand pass back through the object, releasing it. Demo can be found on MVD. It looks like Vinny is using this handling now too. Thanks my friend. - BRUSH-BACK LINK – link one band to another by simply brushing one strand against another. - More tips, thoughts and rationalizations. - The R.O.C.– My ring on cord routine with several original, never before seen moves. That’s what’s slated so far. Again, release of the DVD will be before years end, I’m in the middle of updating my website along with about 2,368,539 other thing I need to do. Thanks all, Vince Mendoza p.s. Alan, for a couple of tips of the ebb and flow of the FLRT routines, read this post. http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/searc......=4422249 |

Vince,
Thanks for the update. I've been waiting with bated breath for the Rhing thing DVD release . The new streamlined version with extra phrases sounds excellent! Vinny, Glad to hear that some of your material will be released on the Paul Harris' DVD. A greater group of magicians will finally enjoy some of the "godfather"'s work . Bosco |

Thanks for the update Vince, good luck with your matters. I think I might just grab the manuscript for now then.
Chris SD, Garrett Thomas' Ring Thing is about finger ring effects, and it's one of my best buy so far in 2006. Vince Mendoza's Rhing Thing is about rubber band effects, which is highly regarded by the fine members here in the Café.
Nice to meet you

I'm tempted to go for the manuscript...although I must say a video presentation is a much more effective teaching tool for a lot of us. Including me. I ordered Pinnacle today...but I'm still interested in this and look forward to its release on DVD in the future. It's a bit curious thought, because in another thread it was stated the video was done and they were holding release so as not conflict with some other similar product. Oh well...I guess it will be released when it's released. It's give me a chance to practice up on Pinnacle...

I recently purchased Vince's pdf file for this rubber band effect to elevate my rubber band magic from CMH, a Harlan effect, and ring band it (from Ammar's book). However, I am stuck at figure 7. "The LT hand rotates slightly palm up... (that one)" I have yet to end up like fig 8 (I accidentally did it once and didn't know what I did to get there!). Ive tried at least several dozen times (probably over a hundred) and have even broken about two dozen bands trying to get the handling right. I am not sure whether to maintain the band on the LT finger when going into the loop or release it. Also I am not sure which loop to enter or whether to enter from the inside or outside, etc. Can anyone explain this to me (I guess a PM would be best to not expose the effec) but its only a small section so it wouldnt matter either way? If anyone is super ambitious, would you be willing to send a video of that particular move. I think once I get to figure 8, I should be able to continue forward. My email is RollyD@bellsouth.net
don't worry, I do not plan to expose the effect. I've been a member of IBM Ring 16 since 1992 and have been performing magic since 1986. I've contacted Vince but as everyone knows, he is a VERY busy guy. Thanks. Rolly |

It is not about the left hand rotating, it is all about the left index finger sliding up against the left thumb, and through two strands, then the rest is self explanitary. Try that and get back to me at juggleral@comcast.net Al Angello

Nope, still can't figure it out. The instructions do not seem as clear to me as some of the guys have said in here. I ordered Pinnacle tonight. I heard its easier to learn because of the DVD (maybe the sleights are easier too?). Maybe eventually I will be able to learn this routine, but I'm near the end of my tolerance to learn this effect. Im close to throwing in the junk drawer.
