Nice looking, to bad it's so fuzzy though, shows what a lot of money and a good production company can do.

It probably had to be because the sunlight was directly behind him.. Many levitations of that nature need some sort of backdrop

Copperfield levitates across the grand canyon. What's so amazing about this?
I didn't come here to tell you how this is going to end...

The quality of the video is ugly but the effect is wonderful. The shadow on the building adds a lot of magic to the effect, nothing more than Criss is shadowed (no wires, no pulls, nothing...)
Do you have a source where I can download the whole special (if it's not copyrighted, illegal, etc etc...) Dave |

Again - take a look at the Copperfield Grand Canyon illusion - same thing.
Shadow of DC against the Canyon walls - no shadows of any of the method... |

I watched Mindfreak today, as I couldn't catch it Wednesday (had a few of his first season, and the two new ones from his second), and saw the lev... Looked like Copperfield's, but was much more personable as he had spectators underneath him. It's the same, only different, as Copperfield's grand canyon See if you can catch it on television, it won't have terrible video quality... what's shown on the clips is just a portion of the whole thing.

Same as DC? I can't say. Even if I knew for sure I wouldn't say...
It certainly looked more believable though. At least to the TV viewers it did. No idea what the live spectators really saw. (Note to Criss: Watch your continuity. The clips you stitched together had some errors in them. This isn't the first time. The arrow catch from an earlier episode? Why did the razor sharp broadheads you showed in the closeups "bounce" off the backdrop instead of sticking like they should???)

Hey, ever since Criss Angel's show had come out, something always seemed fishy. Before every effect, as you stated, Criss says what you see is what you get over and over. It gets a little repetitive. I know he is trying to accomplish something and really sell to the audience and viewers that nothing is going on, but it just raises my suspiscions.
I get annoyed with the way Criss Angel's specials are filmed. Too many jumps to spectators and too many cuts. Unlike David Blaine, he utilises technology way too much. First there's the SPOV camera, then there a camera focusing on him, then there's a camera focusing on other spectators, then another on Angel, then another 3 others. Throughout one effect, the camera view changes about 15 times. I can't stand that, why can't you have one continuous shot, and capture everything? It just really annoys me. Mitchell |

The real magic took place (as it often does with CA and DB) in Final Cut Pro.

I doubt it. From what I can remember, Copperfield's relied heavily on distance from the viewer to assist in the illusion.
