Yeah, I only wish it was more comfortable to wear and that I had fatter wrists. Great though. I suggest you get one from the Café, they have them for like 150.

Welcome to the Café zuriel. Let us know what you think when you receive the BW next week. It took me about a month of really working with it to finally become comfortable enough to perform a few routines, but the response has easily been worth the time spent. Have fun!

Well sweet, I got it today. Thanx for the invite to this forums. I'm on penguin magic forums too for anyone out there on that as well. I havent checked out the item yet, I'm about half way through the DVD explanation.
I'm already getting a kick outta it. Its an incredibly ingenious devise as far as what I'm watching and very versitile, I've already got some ideas running through my head. Here's one, I'm a huge candy man (except for chocolate...it makes me sick) and I love black licorice, yet that isn't really the most popular candy. So get one of the little licorice bites (i think they are called) and you can easily change black licorice to red, or some other candy. BTW the "boing" sound on the DVD I thought was hillarious when the words pop up. I'll have more to say later on. |

I'm totally FREAKING MYSELF OUT HERE! I dig. I totally dig it! Bye bye raven! What I totally and most definitely LOVE about the BW is that it has ingeniously taken away that annoying "talking" the raven makes. I've had to try and out talk my raven before and it doesn't always work, especially in a quiet place, but this thing is 1337! I've only been working on my regular vanishes, its a little awkward and sometimes I get distracted by the movements I'm making, but I've only played with it for less than an hour, this unit has great potential in my eyes.

Cool zuriel. You sound like me when I first got my BW. It just has such amazing potential, limited only by your imagination, and it sounds like you've got a pretty good imagination.
I liked your color changing candy idea, you just have to be careful that nobody eats the first piece you put on their hand, ha. Keep playing....er.... I mean practicing. |

I was the tester, and still perform nightly with my Widow, and I did not pick up on a glitche. Guess I did not do my job properly if I missed it. If you are referring to the 1 second hook up, then it is not a gliche. I do it on the off beat while retrieving a sharpie. As for the cost of the Widows dropping to $50.00, good luck. By the time that happens, Darryls new release will be all the buzz!!! Ooops, did I let something slip. I have it and it rocks!!!! Darryl keep this one to yourself lol.

Here's a little tip for my canadian friends or non canadians who don't mind using canadian money.
Recently minted nickels (year 2000 I believe) can be attracted by magnets. Prior to that they are not. Other that the year, they look identical... Jean-Luc |

Irishghost is right, you know nothing about the device, SO DON'T JUDGE!

Yes very true, I don't want them to eat the candy, but there's only a couple people in my group of buddies who like black licorice, so that shouldnt be a problem!
Today I just came up with a new use for my widow. If you own the Healed and Sealed it's a great way around the whole "sealing" part as I had some trouble with that sleight of hand/misdirection part, now with the widow no probs it just adds to the mystery of it...beautiful, simply beautiful. |

Almost all Canadian money is Ferrous but some nickles and pennies are not... if gives you a great way to change the date on a coin or predict the date of a coin - by switching it out.
I did a little effect we called " back in time ", give the spectator a nickle or penny and with the BW switch it out for an identical looking coin that would have a different date. Our little shop has sold over 112 Black Widows, and although there were a few "glitches" at first, all those, as far as I know have been repaired, I know Darryl beefed Up a certain part of the unit after the initial production run. All in all the only compliants we have noticed are from new magicians who thought that the BW would instantly make them a Blaine or Angel. We had a couple people back in the store the next day frustrated, saying it didn't work for them, they just didn't give it the time and practice it requires. I think we are seing people utilizing it as a unique and creative device while others have decided it does not fit in to their performance style. As far as them appearing on ebay for 50 dollars, there may be the odd one, but I was at a magic auction and watched a chair suspension sell for $50 also, so I don't think that a used magic prop selling for a ridiculously low price is anything out of the ordinary. I took the widow out today into the public and did a trial run. I used the raven so "raven tricks" are really easy for me and the transition from raven to widow is really nothing, just a little practice. My report is fantastic. I basically walked around and disapeared quarters and did penny to dime effects. Its really quiet for me compared to the raven and I didn't even have to patter to cover the noise. I'm in Michigan, USA so some people I tried it out on had gloves on so they couldn't feel anything in the first place...that was good. I only messed up once with the penny to dime and the dime fell off the guys hand after taking the penny but I just picked it up and told him it was all misdirection and proceeded to place the dime in one hand then show that it was empty and still in my other hand. Even still he thought it was cool. I love it. It cant really compare to the raven, except for the short sleeves setup on the raven...but with the raven I couldn't use it as effectively because I had to use the raven with my left hand because the way your shirt buttons up, with the widow I can use my right hand which I am much more comfortable with and it makes the movements and learning much faster for me, and right now there aren't too many people in short sleeves in michigan so bonus for me!

Fantastic product. I must admit that I do not practice with it a lot and it does take practice. I have used it on occasion and can kill with it. I am still not too comfortable with it (my fault) and when I am , I would feel invincible with it. Being able to visually cleanly silently take away or switch something from someones hand is as real magic as you can get. I personally think that the majority of the negative posts on here (not all!!!) are from folks who are not willing to put the time in to practice. The small amount of practice I dedicated to it made me feel so much better and confident with it. A Genius product and light yrs ahead of the Raven. Just my .2 cents.

Howdy Valentin, and welcome to the Magic Café.... I hope you enjoy your time here.
Without going into detail, since I wouldn't want to disclose the workings for casual readers... I'll send you a PM about your question. |
