Poker Chip Surprise by Joe Porper
----------oOo---------- Effect & description: Inspired by the work of Connie Haden, Doc Eason and Paul Green, Joe Porper and Pete Biro bring you the poker chip Surprise. The performer brings out a small leather pouch, opens it and displays three casino poker chips. Placing them into the left hand, the red chip is taken away in the right hand. When both hands are opened the chips have transposed, the red is in the left and the other two chips in the right. This is repeated, then repeated again, however this time in a spectator's own hands! The transposition happens again! To finish, the red chip is placed into the pouch, yet still changes places with the other two chips. You finish clean, and the chips can be examined and can be used for other routines. You receive precision-made, to Joe Porper’s high standards, all the necessary poker chips(gaffed and un-gaffed), an illustrated instruction booklet, and a custom-designed leather carrying pouch that works like a Himber wallet for an effortless way to bring into play (and out) the gimmicked chips. Get modern! With the popularity of poker, thanks to the big money tournaments on TV, we felt it was time to release a version of Connie Haden’s Double Copper and Silver made with genuine casino poker chips --------------------------------------- Obviously this is an updated version of the now classic one copper, two silver trick, which was later improved with the addition of a chinese coin in place of one of the copper coins and named silver, copper, brass. The latter being a bit more convincing due to the hole in the oriental style token which allowed the spectator to see clear thru and eliminated any possible suspicion that she may have that one of the coins may be gimmicked, or so we magicians like to think anyway. Well, thanks to magician Pete Biro and magic crafter Joe Porper, we now have an updated version which will easily be accepted by modern audiences. With the popularity of celebrity poker on television and the ever increasing number of Indian owned casino's popping up across America, Poker style chips are easily recognized by most folks and are pretty much above suspicion. No more having to explain what that chinese coin is, or having people who have never seen a Kennedy half wanting to take a closer look as it were (it happens, especially with young people). These are poker chips! How much more topical and innocent can you get? So what do you get for your hard earned magical dollar? I'm glad I asked. You receive a well produced seven page booklet containing 25 full color photograph's explaining the entire routine, four Poker chips and the special gimmick. In addition the entire affair fits inside a special Himber-style wallet, which is used during the routine. Those of you who already have a favorite routine of your own will be happy to know that the wallet is not necessary. However, using the wallet not only makes the effect a bit easier to perform, but totally eliminates having to reach in and out of your pockets, making the entire effect seem that more magical. The Poker chips look and feel like the real article, sporting different numerical values and various Las Vegas icons. The quality? Well, it is Joe Porper, so you know it's the best! The set should last you a life time and then some. If you are use to performing with regular coins, you will have to make a few adjustments, not many, but a few. Because the chips are a bit thicker than coins, it will take a bit of handling before you are comfortable using the chips. It took me about fifteen minutes, so I don't this will be a big issue with anyone else. Finally, I should point out that the sets come in a variety of designs and colors. As an example, my set consisted of chips that are red, white and blue, while the instructions describe using a red, green and yellow chip. A moot point here, but I did have to pay a bit more attention to what I was actually reading while keeping track of which chips were where, if you know what I mean. This is a great routine that makes use of modern props and is manufactured by one of the finest craftsman in magic. You simply can't go wrong here. My highest recommendation! ------------------------------------------ My rating: Suggested retail: $89.95 You may contact Joe Porper directly at: porperprods@earthlink.net To visit Joe's website: Click here!
