Interesting ideas !

Yeah, I agree with those who say the method is rather transparent. This is not to say that others might enjoy this trick, but I can tell just by looking at it that it is not for me.

I used Magicsquared's subtlety, and it was excellent. Not only that, but the lady that hosted my show tonight said that it was her favorite piece in a very strong show. And it is a very strong show, with different pieces appealing to different people.
I didn't even use any sharp objects... I used crayons. They got a great laugh, but they also realized what could have happened. I really like Magicsquared's subtlety. I will include it if he will allow it. JF |

Magicsquared's subtlety is REALLY good.
I like this effect and I feel it is well worth purchasing. |

Hi Trixy,
I've removed the video, due to my host threatening to stop my site unless I upgrade my payments. In other words, I don't want to raise the price on this unnecessarily due to paying for support issues. What I can tell you is that people are raving about this effect, at my shows AND from the Magic Café reviews and purchasers. Also, many people have felt that the video made the workings of the effect obvious. The video was made before AC Costello's "safe" handling subtlety. Wow, it really was a huge improvement! As it was, the video was still very effective when used on laymen. It just wasn't a huge magician killer. The method was simply too bold and subtle (see 'Hoy') to impress magicians. However, with the magicsquared subtlety, and the built in sucker aspect of this routine, magicians will really appreciate this manuscript. Also, a video of the effect would give away too much to a smart magician. You would be able to duplicate it immediately if you've got anything on the ball... Please purchase this, I don't think that you will be disappointed, especially if you are a clown, and looking to do something with the crayon angle. I use the crayon angle at most children's shows, and they really love it! And, at $8.50, it's a real steal. But, hey I'm biased... but not as biased as if I were selling it for what it's worth, $28.50. jF |

When I first read this over, I thought, "Meh -- so what?" After a few minutes of thought and imagining how this might play out, my opinion did a 180. This is simple and direct, and, if it were routined, scripted, and performed well, I imagine that it would play very powerfully indeed. Well done, Jimmy. And a tip of the hat to A.C. for his "safe" subtlety, which strikes me as the prefered way to go. Now to put this together, think it through, and give it a try...

If you get this, make sure you PM Magicsquared for his handling/wording. I know it's mentioned in the manuscript, but it makes a lot more sense in his own words (at least it did to me).

I don't get why no-one has thought of the obvious idea of using rubber spikes?
Or rubber knifes. They look real to the audience, but will bend if you accidentally hit them. There are tons available in toy sets at your local toy shop. Some are very convincing out-of-the-box. Others may require a coat of silver paint. But surely that will do the job far better than real knifes. If you want to stab something onto them, then you could have one real knife, or a hard plastic knife that would penetarte a 'soft' apple (warm it in a microwave). But personally, I'd just use a balloon which I lower onto one of the rubber knives, and then pop it with my finger nail as it touches the tip. That's my way of performing the exact same trick, only 100 percent safe. Steve |

The carrot through the hand made me look.
I might say I put my wiener under one of the cups. Oscar Mayer variety of course. Rob |
