I use Max Maven's (or is it Phil Goldstein's) "Time Out" all the time!

I do some packets tricks, with gimmick or not, like the "Imprimerie" (Printing)of Dominique Duvivier (this routine has inspired Daryl for his "Printing", but I prefer the Duvivier's version because the "prints" are more eclectics...
I also do the "Twisting the aces" of Dai Vernon and the "Bizzare Twist" of Paul Harris, they are easy to follow, you perform it in any condition... Dai Vernon is Dai Vernon... And the routine "Pacte" of Christian Chelman, impressive, but you can't do it in any conditions. And of course, the last trick of Dr. Daley... |

When I went through a box of old stuff I found one, the only one I own, but I can't for the life of me remember what the trick was and I couldn't find the instructions. Guess it wasn't very good...
I do a couple of packet tricks though like Color Monte and Twisting the Aces but I don't use gaffes. |

So much the better. If you can get away without the gaffes. But for certain effects they are indispensable.

A fascinating book on packet tricks is Paul Hallas's "Small but Deadly: the Packet Trickster's Handbook." It would be a very knowledgeable card man indeed who didn't find some useful packet tricks they didn't know there. And, of course, both Nick Trost and Peter Duffie have left us with scores (if not hundreds) of unusual packet tricks.

The ones I don't know about just haven't made it there yet. ;-) |

This is the club 100 member list As for myself, I only own about 6. Jokers On You is currently a favourite... amateur I know, but it gets good reactions. BUT... Thanks to a recen purchase... Simon Lovell's "PACKET KILLER", I am creating my own (and re-enacting the ones I can figure out) all the time. A hobby if you will...

Little anecdote here: I searched and searched over the years for the best way to store and organize them as my collection rapidly grew, (and Hank Lee became increasingly rich! )
Finally, I hit upon a winner. My factory was throwing out some old time card racks. You know. They are made of metal and have slots all the way down. The slots looked perfect for inserting packet tricks, so I took them home and adopted them to my new magical purposes. They worked great. I hung them up on these large metal shelves I had also gotten from the factory when they no longer needed them. The shelves hold a great portion of my effects in my magic room. ANYWAY, one day, for whatever reason, the shelves got knocked over. The crash was deafening! You guessed it. PILES of packet tricks all over the floor of my magic room, and they unfortunately did not fall in any neat order. Right, They were scattered and mixed in a hopeless, jumbled pile. You can guess it took me HOURS of labor to figure out which cards went with each effect. Another time I was living in a trailer and we got hit by a freak wind storm that knocked the trailer almost off it's foundation. You guessed it. Piles of packet effects scattered everywhere. Talk about a jigsaw puzzle! Back to the old drawing board. Now I keep them in a large box, and each effect has a labeled band of paper around it, double secured by a rubber band. The time card racks still hang in my magic room. lonely...empty...abandoned. But that's the breaks. WAY too much money invested in those babies to see 'em wrecked again, knowhutImeen?
