This thought was just inspired moments ago by Ellen Kotzin down on the "Not Very Magical" board...
We have seen flea circuses, and now I want something different... Has anyone ever thought of doing a Sea Monkey circus? Instead of a tabletop, it would be a fishtank. I could think of rigging for a lot of new tricks (Underwater scarf juggling, Water Cannons, toy shark wrestling) Any thoughts or ideas? Has it been done? Just brainstorming... Gwyd |

Gwyd,
That's very fine! For inspiration, look at Sea World performances. Trained aquatic mammals leap out of the water to ring a bell high above the tank, that sort of thing. Lots of splash effects. Of course, a glass or plastic front tank with props inside that are moved by the tiny performers. How about Water Polo, with a tiny ball darting about on the surface, hitting first one goal, then the other, as the human performer does a play-by-play. The key is to have a lot of ideas, then toss out the ones that aren't so good or can't be made to work. Keep us posted! Yours, Paul |

They already marketed sea monkey baseball (it was a pamphlet you could send away for)
to keep sea monkeys living longer you need to aerate the water daily. The easiest way to do this is to blow in the water with a straw. I used to have a sign over my Sea Monkey tank to remind me to do so that said "BLOW THE MONKEYS" By doing this I got one that was about as long as the end of my thimb to the knuckle.

Brilliant ideas Paul! I will have to start writing down the acts I can remember from Sea World. The water polo idea is really cool!!
(And no real sea monkey Marvello...They do make great pets though...And a sign that says "Blow the Monkeys" would definately amuse me...) There are difficulties with the construction (You cant run anything through holes in the back of the unit), but there are some advantages as well. You can make things move through water movement (Squirt bulbs pushing things around and splashes at the top of the tank), glass rods are nearly invisible underwater, objects can be floated or sunk without actual support (Could even fill an object with air from a minute tube) and as you see in some artificial fishtanks, magnets can give some extremely realistic movement to objects, not to mention being able to anchor or catch something magnetically. I was even thinking about lighting it with blacklight, so the eyes were drawn only to what I want them to be. Still in the brainstorming stage...Have plenty of ideas to write down, but I am thinking this will make an ideal winter project (After I complete the electric chair for my partner). I have three spare fishtanks to test with, so I will definately be peeking in here to let everyone know my progress and ask advice! Thanks all! Gwyd |
