Are we mixing magic routines with cons or are you contending that people play cup and spikes on the street for money?

What is fast and loose?

How do you play which hand?

Fast and Loose is a con that can be presented in an entertaining manner. You have a loop of chain. You may what looks like a figure eight out of it and the idea is one loop in the eight holds fast if you put your finger in, the other the chain will pull away loose. The player has a choice of where to put his/her finger, in what loop, the dealer will always win. It is usually played on a surface and can be done with either hand or both (are you one handed?). It is known as The Endless Chain and On The Barrel Head and at times incorrectly as Pricking the Garter. Best source for the item is Notes on Fast And Lose by School for Scoundrels. You can get a nice routine on the Johnny Thompson Commercial Classics of Magic DVD, can't recall which one.

Pardon me, but I think your Freudian Slip is showing.

HAHAHA.

I still don't understand what fast and loose is (the object of the game).

Cheers anyway

Simply that someone has to guess which hand a coin is in and they're always wrong while someone else may always be right.

Here, watch Chef Anton perform Fast and Loose for a couple of volunteers:
