Hey everyone,
Be kind guys, this is the first time I've asked for an effect, and I know these types of posts can be annoying but Im looking for an effect. Cyril Takayama performs this on one of his magic specials, check it out. youtube.com Now I've seen this done before, but it was only done with one pip. Funny thing is the only other time I saw it was on another japanese magic special (dont know if theres a connection). But if I could get a name and maybe a source, that be great. Thanks in advance. Oh, and also, did I post this in the wrong forum? |

I imagine that's Cyril's routine, but I don't know for sure.
The thing to take from that video is the way he really milks the moments after the apparent mistake, neither rushing to do the revelation nor waiting so long that it gets boring. He does the revelation at, or at least near, when the tension peaks. Not that I can do that myself, but I do notice it. Cyril is a great magician.
Humans make life so interesting. Do you know that in a universe so full of wonders, they have managed to create boredom. Quite astonishing.

Bill I don't think its Cyril's routine, because like I said I've seen it done before. I saw it on another japanese magic special, and I think the special took place at a convention at Las Vegas. So thanks for your input Bill, but it's kinda strange no ones ever heard of it.

I love Cyrils performance style, its just so inspiring. Its performers like him that make me want to become a better magician. These recently discovered tapes must have come from his most recent magic special, which is also unfortunately his last (according to Magic Magazine). But heres something else I found http://www.magicxlive.com./
I don't know if this is old or new, but I recently found it surfing the web. If you look at the cartoon 3rd from the right, that's Cyril. Hopefully we'll here more from this. O, and also, don't the noodles in the first video Robert posted look so good (mmmmmmmmm). But it might just be the fact that its close to dinner time, and I havent eaten yet . |

The videos Robert posted are from his December, 2003 special called "Shockwave Re-Entry, Miracle Magician...Cyril 2."
Magic X Live has been around for awhile. They are the ones behind the shows called "T.H.E.M. (Totally Hidden Extreme Magic)." Cyril was on one, but all I can remember him doing was the bit were he sneezes his head off. Enrico de la Vega, one of the founders of Magic X Live, is one of Cyril's top advisors. Best

Cyril is great. the way he performs maggic is the way I think it should be done. for the most part it seems to his audience that magic is just happening around him anf he can control t. he has a great character and its fun to watch him. do notice his routines are longer and more in depth than angels or blaines. I think probably people in his country have more patience to see what will happen instead of wanteda result right away

The current issue of Magic Magazine has a great article on Cyril. His history is pretty amazing. He was born in California, Was sent overseas after having problems in two schools here. After leaving his flight early in Taiwon, he performed out of necessity until he was picked up and sponsored. It's really pretty amazing to see what he had to go through and how he worked up to the point he is at now.
