What's the best way 'burn' a card. I have an effect where the specs. card ends up being burnt on the back. Physically burning the card is not the way to go. Does anyone know of a method that makes the card 'look' realistically burned?
I must add that this only applies to the surface of the card - the 'burn' must not go all the way through... GS |

I am not sure but the red gaff deck of ellusionist has some burned effects I believe. Maybe you could check them out. An other option I never tried is maybe use the fumagine coming from a lighter to give the card some black smoke effect, but that one probably would wipe off easily

I don't know any sources, but I'd be looking for vinyl stickers that can be glued on. There are many stain type stickers around, look in a local office supply store you might get lucky.

For the second method, think along the lines of Card Shark... GS |

Burn a card, scan the burnt card, print out the scan of the burnt card on some transparent sticker sheet stock, cut it out and apply "Burnt" sticker to back of card.

As far as I'm concerned there is no substitute, burn the card, wipe off the soot and then leave it flattened under a book.

The E gaffed deck has a printed burnt card (6S) - looks perfect, but the back is burnt, as well.

Yep, the card in the Gaff deck which has the "KC" image burned on the back is incredibly realisitic. It really looks like it was burned.
Perhaps one of the custom card guys out there, like Cards by Martin, could be of help. Kevin
