Anyone perform this effect by Chris Mitchell. There are no demos available but this effect by its description is a tossed out deck routine with comedy patter. I was curious how the technique compares to some of the other tossed out deck effects currently available.

When I saw the ad for this, I had to laugh out loud. $225 for that? I'm still laughing.

I'm with you. At first I thought it had to be a typo. Then I thought, "I'm dying to know if anyone will actually buy this."

Because of the price I'm thinking "There must be something more to this than a Tossed out deck with patter." But, maybe not.

Wait dudes! You also get performance rights!
I saw this too and thought this must be a joke. A tossed out deck in a bucket on the end of a pole. Guess this guy jumped on the price it high and people will buy band wagon. I realized that a good routine is worth it's weight in gold, but this guy needs to get over himself. This is a $15 booklet product at best. Maybe $50 with all the props, but $250...Riiiiiiiiight.

I was wondering why there was a bucket outside my window. I should have known. (by the way, get to sleep. You have to be well-rested so you can show me skullcracker).

Has anyone bought this yet. I am eager to know if he truly offers something more to the routine for that much money. It sounds humorous and I remember a friend who saw it live say it was really funny but that's all he remembers.
Thanks

I got tell ya this routine sounds great. And the money?? Well you are paying for a "routine" not a bucket or deck of cards. I spent 700.00 for kevin james bowling ball, and it is a pad with a gimmick. It was best 700.00 I spent.
Point is if you are performing and getting paid then this 200.00 plus dollars will be made up in a 1/2 show. So I think I am going to buy it myself. It had a great write up in MAGIC. Ken |

I bought it! Got it from Hocus-Pocus... during their 30% off birthday sale... so, I got it for $154.00. I am normally very pleased with Hocus-Pocus... however, this time they charged me a bogus $25.00 shipping charge. I thought that was outrageous! Anyway, the pole is very nice. My opinion is... that there is not much of a routine here... you are mainly getting a performance rights certificate. I expected the DVD performance to have much more of a routine with it. But, I must say it's simply a tossed-out deck in a bucket on a pole. Saying this, it is very nice... and I will keep it, as I see lots of potential... and it should perform well. Just my opinion.

Based on what I've read here and the review in this month's MAGIC, it seems to me you are paying $225 for a $2 bucket, a $10 pole and a $10 deck of cards....which would be fine if the routine that comes with it is somehow different than anything that has come before...but it seems like there is nothing new to the routine either (other than the addition of the pole and bucket). I've always preached that we should be willing to pay a premium for great routines even if the provided props are not expensive, but this seems to be the exception to the rule.
However, to take advantage of this trend, I am now selling my "Long Distance Invisible Deck" routine. Basically, it's just the standard invisible deck routine but I send you one of those "grapler" devices so instead of throwing the "invisible" deck into the crowd, you put it in the grapler and hand it to your spectator. It makes the trick much safer that way as you have no invisible objects flying through the air. For a limited time, it's only $500 (after which it will increase to $501). |
