Does any one do the following trick?
Magician gives up to 5 spectators 9 cards. They are asked to remember it and its position. Magician takes the cards, looks through them, tells them he has moved their card to a new position. He gives them back their packet facedown. He has them move one card from top and move it to bottom the number of times equal to the position. Spectator looks at bottom card and it is not theirs. Magician then has each spectator name any card. They use their packet to spell it. magician has them spell MAGIC and turn over the last card and it is their card? |

It seems like Multi-spectator version of Steinmeyer's 'Nine Card Problem'.
The first phase of controling selection to a specific position is no good in the posted version. You hand 9 cards to 4 spectators. In each packet an Ace is set at 3rd from top. Then you proceed as the original version. You will get four Aces at last. I believe producing four Aces is more visual than producing four selections. Hideo Kato |

I like the idea of the four aces, but the trick can be done where you move the cards.

I think most mysterious thing in this trick is that Ace appear after dealing cards with name of any cards. So I won't mix other factor of positioning the Ace to 3rd from top by such proceedure. If you want to add, a casual shuffle keeping the Ace there maybe sufficient.
Hideo Kato P.S. Of course we can magically position each Ace 3rd from top using Free Cut principle, but combining two good principle tend to kill each other. P.P.S. David Copperfield did like this. He asked spectator to deal 3 piles of 3 cards from shuffled deck, look bottom card of any packet, and to place the pile (of which he looked bottom card) on any other pile, then to place combined pile on the remaining pile. Thus, the remembered card is controlled to 3rd from top. He did this onlookers of the TV program. |

For a reference, The Pallbearers Review, Vol.1 No.2 1965 page 11 has Blackstone's 10-Card Trick is similar.
