The following quote is from Baba Gede Nibo. He speaks here of Magic but I can assure you these words are also true of this very special book itself.
"It defies its counterpart, logic, and lives, and will always live, in a domain all its own. It will always be unknown by the uninitiated, yet fill them with a living, breathing element of awe and wonder." |

Thanx brothers...
I think, though, the Mage are just now starting to get the scroll--so it may be awhile before we get solid review... |

Pre-review-
I hate cards. Always have. Durned things are just too slippery for me. But the book inspired me to try some stuff with Baba's presentation methods. The methods and presentations included are designed with enough misdirection built in that even I can pull them off. I practiced them in front of Sylver, and she has really good eyes and watches me like a hawk. It went flawless. Her only complaint is when my patter was a touch off when I turned over one of the cards. I said the name as I flipped it over to show her. The other two, I named before the reveal (Like I was supposed to). Not to bad since I havent done a trick utilizing cards in about 10 years. So my first praise of the book, it inspired me to do a type of trick I don't normally do, and gave me the ability to pull it off. More review to come! Gwyd |

I don't know if this is good or bad, but this book got me smoking cigars and drinking rum. Be careful. Don't attempt to light a cigar with a mouth full of 151. You may cause a fireball.
The dog was curious as to what I was doing, the vet has told me that her fur will grow back, which is more than I can say for my eyebrows. Thank's Baba! A still smoldering Tony |

OK...That was funny.
True but funny. That book has seriously made me crave a good cigar. A lil rum wouldn't be so bad either. Gwyd |

Phooey! I'm 3000 miles from my copy.
Tony, the idea is to singe somebody else's eyebrows. I believe we'll be running into each other in a few weeks, so we can work on technique!

LOL..been trying to figure it all morning... also, just for the record, Baba only has a few card effects in here--most of the magic is using rocks, boxes, jars, skulls, dolls, eggs, cigars, keys, nails, crosses, bottles, chickens feet and bones --wow, I'm just now realizing how original the book truly is.... |

There's lots of spirits in 151! Perhaps I should stay away from it while I'm on morphine. Perhaps not, everything is spirit, right? My guess is that I'll meet George personally before I finish the book. Tony |

Still reading and thinking...I have read it through once but there is very much to this.
A first impression...this is very, very good. If you are sick of card tricks for kiddies and want to do magick like it was first done in history get this. I am also massively enjoying the readings section. I used to have a large, red book on casting the Cowrie shells...there were several pages of poems on each possible toss. It confused me. My old method of trying to read the bones also caused me brain sprain. This has very nice systems on those two reading methods and much more on readings. There are real magick effects, simply done using simple props. This is magick with cahones written with wonderful talent. There is reading information. There are voodoo basics...and mostly there is passion in this book. If you are politically correct or otherwise religiously sensitive this is not the book for you. You will learn to work with voodoo dolls and learn to cast spells and remove curses. It is for the Arnold Schwarzenegger's of magic, not the girly men. Vo Du Ma Gick has gone directly onto my permanent shelf and now sits next to my first edition copy of Spirit Theater by Eugene Burger. It is that good. |

Hahaha..just call me ARNOLD SWARZE-NEGRO (Somebody laugh now)
thanx for the great response bro--you really seem to sum it up, as I too see the book--great minds think alike... yes, by goddess, if you have church early sunday morning, you may not want to have this book in your house as it may cause things to come out during confession that you neednt speak upon all respect to all paths to the pathless!!!! I do not make it my aim, nor do I offend anyone on the surface--its just some of the SAME iconography used in catholic is indeed used in Vodou....so some may be a bit uncomfy with this---but AGAIN I do it with class, and with respect to the nameless One... Love!! also, ive been getting Pm's primarily from our brothers overseas asking if the book is now unavailable--the answer is NO-it will be around for awhile--its just the sale price that ended--but even still, if you really want the book, and find yourself short, PM me, maybe we can help, over time... |

I finished the book last night (well, I should say I got through my first reading!..as I shall be rereading this tome many times) - 10 skulls and 10 Grisgris out of 5....
As others have mentioned, plus my favourite thing about the book, is the detailed context of every effect so you learn about vodou as you go along... and one can actually feel you can perform the effect with a leg to stand on without looking like you are insulting a culture by doing cheap "voodoo" effects... plus nicely laid out. The vodou version of Capricornian Tales - yet it distinct from CT in the storytelling style. My opening patter - "a great hougon, Baba Gede Nibo, told me this tale...." Aces, man. Aces.
"They are lean and athirst!!!!"

Oh boy, Dr. Spektor, my new opening line for a couple of effects is, "One of the great things about this job is the people you meet. I know a great hougon, Baba Gede Nibo, who taught me. . ." He HAS started a new religion.
Baba, You and Christian certainly do have a very similar feel to your works, even coming from two different places. I finished it last night, while sitting up with my sick puppy. I had to take a nap before I could post anything intelligent ( I think I tried on the other place, but haven't looked back yet to see if it's too weird). The book is put together beautifully. It's not just a magic book but a story in and of itself. That's the beautiful thing. I was in the book watching all the magic, and then watching you lift the veil to see the inner workings. I'll be rereading this many times yet. Thanks for putting it out there. And I feel honored if I have done anything to help to be mentioned. Namaste to you, Brother. Jai, Raven
