Does anyone have an easy method for producing a lit match from a TT?
I tried putting a striker on the inside and using a wooden match, but it's hard to get a good strike and get it to light. Any ideas? |

Why don't you try a match lighter (the ones used inside the jackets to pull out lit matches) inside the TT. But I do not think it will fit in there.
Or else you may secure a piece of sand paper around the head of a match and then secure the sand paper to the inside of the TT. The sand paper may be held around the match with a rubberband for more uses. But then it needs to have a strong grip on the TT as the match needs to be pulled out with a strong pull in order to light up... I hope you understood me. Ivan

I wouldn't use the TT either. I think it would be awkward to use, undependable, and possibly dangerous. A lit match pull is inexpensive, or can easily be improvised with a spring paperclip.
I saw a thing the other day where a dealer was suggesting taping a minature dragon's breath gimmick to the match in one of these things. Produce the match...... poof,... instant 12" flame! I'm thinking about using it to ignite a dove pan to produce a bunch of lemons for Bill in a Lemon. More attention grabbing than just dropping a match in the pan. That should get INSTANT GRATIFICATION.

Why would you want to produce a lit match from a TT?
What you apparently want to do is to produce a lit match from "nowhere." There are several practical ways to do that, so why complicate it with a TT? ...unless you want to show the TT empty first! Sid

OK, forgive my ignorance. I thought using a TT would be a good way to produce a lit match from nowhere. So, what do you recommend?

Cut the striking paper off of a book of matches. Take a match and fold the strip of striking paper around the head of the match, and staple the striking paper so it is tight against the match head. Now to light the match all you have to do is pull the match out away from the striking paper. Simple.

Another clean way is to use the striker paper glued to the inside of a small plastic clothespin. To be positive, glue a small piece to both faces.
