I suppose it may appeal to some, but I can't see walking around with a can of "freeze spray" and a "cool bag" to control the temperature. I just rather not worry that the temp will go above 73.4 degrees and ruin the trick.

that's just me though.

I think most people have had some experience with some form of metal that works on temperature like the bending fork, or the Hot Rod that changed color. I believe most people agreed that the temperature issues were a bit much to deal with.

I'm sure there will be a niche market for this, but how many magicians want to walk around with a can of freeze spray to do a key bend? It DOES look pretty cool though. Just not worth all the prep and hassles.

Some people might also be turned off because of the problems with his PSI Sharpie. I guess time will tell how this one goes over.

Hello,

Hocus Pocus received our shipment of Psy-Key today. I must say that of all the new products we recieved this year I think that this is the best one! It is beautifully mfg. and is quality through out. Simple to use and practical If you purchase this I guarantee you will not be disapointed. This is one that you will use and not end up in the drawer. Thank you Yves for this amazing new item.

Best Regards

They say:

http://www.magicby.com/index_files/page0001.htm

I say:

I received mine a couple of days ago.

Very nicely packaged, very well put together.
The DVD gives all the information needed, and I especially like the fact that the flat key can be in the spectators hands, they can see it, then they can close their hands over it, rub it etc., such that there is no possibility that it was switched.
And it WILL bend, and it DOES look like a real key.

The reset takes a couple of careful minutes max.

The suggested presentation suggests using the pretence of using a spectators key. Whether you do or don’t, I think the most important thing is to think through a presentation that reflects YOU. This really does seem the most important aspect.

Now… what this really DOES need, is a good strong, personal presentation by the performer. Get this right and the impact will be amazing.

This does what it says on the tin, and certainly the worries about ‘heat’ have not been a problem here in the UK.
Is it worth the cash? You decide. I’m happy.

Conclusion:

With the right presentation … lovely 9.5/10

Thanks for that Piers,

Looks like it has good potential to be a reputation maker.

Can the key bend if you put in on a table, or does it have to be in someones hands?
I get to gaff some cool stuff for some cool people

If you wanted to switch the "PSI Key" for one that could be given away, how hard would it be to find a close match at a local hardware store/Home Depot/etc?

thanks

Good question.
I plan on going to a key shop on Saturday to match it.
But it should be fairly easy ...

Look forward to hearing how you make out Piers?

other thoughts from US based folks?

thanks

S

(fyi, for those who pick this up, would also recommend osterlinds newest writings on metal bending -- could see this effect appearing TOO EASY to spectators, and Richard has some great thoughts on what metal bending should look like...)

How long does the "freezing spray" last? Also, is the can small enough to carry around?

I have the same question. I also wish to know how long it will take to make the key back to original shape. As I know the bending fork cannot back to the original shape by spraying , need to put inside the freezer for a few hours !

I guess the freezing spray takes the place of the freezer. You still have a lot of prep work to do and stuff to carry around. As with all effects that use memory metal, getting the timing right is important, and unfortunately since it is really up to the material, practice can't guarantee success. You have to get it cold to get it flat and hope it warms up at the right time to get the full effect. I had the same problems with the bending fork.

There is already someone selling his on the Café. It's a nice idea, just not too practical.
