Dan, I wouldn’t want you to take back the post. It initiated a discussion, which kept this thread visible and helped me sell a few books. That is definitely a good thing.
David and Aaron, thank you again for purchasing Switchcraft and also for your kind posts. I very much appreciate it. Jon and Muse, thank you very much. I appreciate both your kind words and support for my position that pricing is ultimately my decision. HypnotizeAmerica, while I appreciate the economic advice, I will “stick to my guns” regarding my strategy for the supplements. Thanks again. Elliott |

You might say reality is the result of complex negotiations between the observer and the observed. But that is simply a point of view.
Many Thanks Garrad |

The book is an astonishingly good value. I agree he could charge a small fee for the supplements if he wanted. But the fact is every time he releases one this thread gets bumped and he presumably sells more copies of the full manuscript, so it's not exactly unsound business sense.

A superlative powerful enough to describe the value of this offering is not available to me at this time, and may never be. I do wish it had a much higher price tag. Say, done on DVD at maybe $150.00 a whack. Although, I must say I do like it in printed form so I can study each illustration for as long as I like. BT

I think we've gotten so used to being ripped off and overcharged for plenty of stuff in this market, that we can't believe some people are still simply offering great products, at great prices. Could you rip us off a bit more please, that's what I'm used to now? More truthfully, the world of thrills in having highly-priced top-secrety stuff....mmm. Obviously, not so high that I can't have it though, just not those Other riff-raff.
Of course "free" extras do build their own commercial value and customer appreciation which pays off in the long term (Cialdini again), even more so as having such a fine work with such fine supporting material in the first place. And who can price the professional satisfaction in having and developing a lasting work of lasting value that is out there, getting used by the community and firing-off even more ideas in the process (for the author, as well as us)? When the bills are paid, that's still what it's all about right? The love of it? In other words, enjoy this great product, support Elliot and buy this if this is your area, but, without better info to the contrary, don't worry about dictating choices for someone else or assume this isn't selling like hot-cakes to happy cold campers. An extra randomish thought - with Stephen King novels and itunes albums being counter-intuitively released for free, as donation-based buys, I wonder how commercially successful free/low charge items with donation buttons would be here and who would be brave enough to go there? Elliott's SWITCHCRAFT is THE best value in Mentalism, period.
I have gotten more use out of what is offered here than in publications I've spent hundred's of dollars on. If you want to make a living doing billet work - this is the Bible of Billets. Elliott - perhaps a new title for the tome? |

Thank you Jon, Garrad, Dr. Eamon, Magicsquared, Lemniscate, Bob, Mindtrap, green4magic and Darren. I really appreciate your posts.
Mindtrap, there was a book in 2006 called ZANDLAND that used the “pay what you think it is worth” approach. I remember the author mentioning he was disappointed in the number of downloads with no payment. Of course, as they say, “results may vary,” depending on timing, material, marketing etc. green4magic, for two reasons, I sometimes consider renaming the book. However, at this point, I think it would just cause too much confusion. My favorite title from the series is “The Zombie Chicken Read.” It just has a good ring to it. Magicsquared and Lemniscate, often your assessment is right on target. Bump Elliott |

I thought Allen Zingg's "Master Billet Course" was the definitive word in billet work. Until I read Elliott's manuscripts. If Zingg's is the "Master Class", Elliott's is the PhD program.

The problem with Zingg's Master Billet Course, is that it's hard to highlight and underline the good parts.

Very true . I guess there are pros and cons to video. If you prefer the printed format, Allen has also published “Billets Naturally,” another really great billet product. I actually like the “Billets Naturally" version of "Drive-In Movie," better than the one on the DVD.

I cannot possibly contribute more than what has already been mentioned of this superb work (in progress, no less) other than to place 3 great big exclamation marks behind each positive review.
Elliot, I am so very thankful to have finally purchased SWITCHCRAFT. It is exactly what I needed & wanted and so much more. Your crisp writing style and wonderful layout decorate the content and thus made it an absolute pleasure to read, re-read and refer back to again and again.
