I don't know if it is just be but when I saw that Mindfreak where Criss claims that he has the fasted Metamorphosis, I couldn't believe what I heard. I was pretty sure that still belongs to the Pendragons. And after looking at videos of Criss' Metamorphosis compared to the Pendragon version, I am pretty sure the Pendragon version is faster, and it has a costume change to boot.
I don't know it is the little things like that, which tick me off about Criss Angel.

I thought Angel's claim to fame with metamorphosis was that it was done without a curtain. His variation is to use a wall of fire to cover the switch.

Joey,
Take a stopwatch and time them both. Criss's metamorphosis is unbelievable. (I like both Criss and the Pendragens.) And the fact that he uses a flash of light rather than a curtain makes it even more unbelievable. It is, in my humble estimation, the greatest metamorphosis presentation to date. Maybe they're just different, but more importantly, I don't think the audience cares one iota. They are both entertaining acts.

Kind of easy to fool an audience when they are temporarily blinded

Criss and the wall of fire, well it is kind of stupid to me personally as it leaves people rubbing their eyes. Not a bad strategy, burn off their retina and they will never see the switch! BUT your last line about the audience not caring one iota, I am with ya there. I don't find him entertaining in the least, but his audience DOES. THAT is the key. How many people claim to be the "fastest" this or the "biggest" or whatever? Kirby Van Birch has an interesting claim in Branson. "The Worlds Largest Magic Show". Interesting claim no doubt. How is that quantified exactly? What are the standards of measurment? Point is many guys make claims for marketing reasons, don't take that away from them. I am not sure how official any of these titles really are.

I think sometimes we read way too much into a name. Criss can say what he will to get publicity or gain interest. Only magicians are going to say, "nah uh, the pendragons are faster."
Curious - we still revere the Pendragons metamorphisis, but I wonder, would the Pendragons mind if the Houdini museum revealed THEIR version of the effect? In the ends, sticks and stones. It's all just presentation. When all is said and done, no one cares so long as they had a good time for the money they spent to see the show. Robert

I dun believe that the criss angel version would appear exactly the same same if you watch it in real life. I believe it was still some how TV magic. it was too impossible, cuz it really done openly for a mere second.

IT is done through an unseeable wall of flame. NOT OUT IN THE OPEN.
He may as well tell the audience to close their eyes. Heck with the flash that happens, he actually has far more time than guys using a curtain. Ultimatly I have to ask the question WHO CARES. Certainly an audience does not. Tell them it is the fastest, and they believe. THAT IS THE POINT OF A MAGIC SHOW in the first place.
