When you know Sleight of Hand, you don't have to carry anything in your pockets. You can use whatever is there at the moment. That's real magic.

In my pocket I usually have a deck of cards, coins (half, golden dollar, and quarter) and what ever I'm practicing on at the time (silk, TT, sponge ball, etc.)
In the bottom drawer of my tool box at work I also have a Svengali deck, poker chips (in leiu of coins), a box of different gafted cards, dice , IT and wax. Ray |

1. a deck of bikes with the box gimmicked to do Jay Sankey's private property
2. a bic pen to do Greg Wilson's Recap 3. 3 coins to do coins across ( I might even do it with a watch steal- Greg Wilson did it while making the coin "try" to jump from spectators left to right hand) 4. invisible deck (same color as other deck) 5. blue duplicate card to do a transposition apparently in the spectators hands. |

1. Thought Transmitter Wallet (keep my money in it)
2. Elmsleys 4 Card Trick (kept in the above) 3. I'll Start Again (wooden paddle and chalk) 4. Pack of cards (containing 1 Joker with a different coloured back) 5. Finally my most important prop of all.........MY BUSINESS CARD! If wearing a jacket, add to the above Card 2 Wallet, Joe Riding's Irish 3 Card Trick using 4 jumbo cards, and Paul Gordon's Insurance Policy. I do a lot of quick revelations with the normal deck including lots of top changes and other bits and pieces (in the spectators hands where possible). I also tell lots of gags, etc. so the above is all I need to work tables, stroll around, etc. |

Blimey - forgot to add, on occasions, my folding coins (normally carry a 1p/10p/50p - so I can 'borrow' most coins and using 3 different reduces the prospect of breakage as the night progresses)

As a new guy on the scene I read this post
5 weeks ago. Tried some of the recommendations as listed by others. Here are my top 5. (remember I’m new) If you notice three of may favorites came from a post by evolve629: Entourage Two Dollar Window Wonderland Bill Perfect pen Invisible Deck I have several people respond to two dollar window with “Magic? It’s still 10 bucks. My response is to start with a two-dollar bill and a five-dollar bill that changes into 2 x 5 = a ten dollar bill. Patter is about “multiplying your money with magic”. Thanks for the fun start with this thread and my own re-discovered road to magic.
An idea can turn to dust or magic, depending on the talent that rubs against it.

A nice deck of cards, a couple of elastics wrapped around some paper, a few polished coins of the realm, my coin pull and a black Ticonderoga pencil behind my ear.
I simply have to lighten this load! Joe

I'm updating slightly for the New Year... These seem to be the ones I have on me for the most part, and actually do more so than anything else. I like them because they are simple to do, but quite amazing, and allow for great interaction which helps you develop your overall skills in presenting any effect. They all work rather well for me and have gotten me a bit of good reputation.
1 - coin trick : Any of my "Crimp Change" effects 2 - card trick : B'wave (or another take on it) 3 - mentalism : BusinessCOIN Prediction 4 - deck trick : Invisible Deck (or another take on it) 5 - closeup/pocket : ThumbTip or Leaving Home/Killer Key * - Miscellaneous : Coin Vanishes & Reproductions
