No, Brad Burt's closed quite some time ago (at least 3-4 years). Currently, there is only 1 magic shop located in San Diego County (in Escondido which is about 25 minutes north of downtown). It is called "The Grand Magic" shop. You can view information about it at http://www.grandmagicshop.com . Do call though since the hours of operation change from time to time.
Another 20-25 minutes north of Escondido, in the town of Temecula, there is another magic shop called "The Trick Shop." You can view more information about "The Trick Shop" at http://www.trickshopmagic.com . While I haven't been to either shop in a little while, they both carry books. I would recommend calling them prior to your arrival to see what they have in stock. By the way, I assume you are coming to San Diego. What dates will you be here? S.Segal |

I'm in the US Navy currently stationed in Guam, but I'll be back in San Diego around July 2007 to work on a Master's Degree at University of San Diego and with hopefully a follow-on tour which would keep me in the area for about 5 years. I look forward to getting back in on the regular magic scene when I return. I too was sad to see Brad Burt's shop close...... :0( I didn't see the new shops in Escondido or Temecula as they didn't open until after I left SD in July 2004. Let me know if they're any good!!

The trick Shop in Temecula holds regular hours and are active in magic community. They have frequent lecturers. I have been by there frequently since summer. Their online store is pretty good to. They are very friendly.
The Grand Magic Shop in Escondido has closed down. I went looking for their shop about 4 months ago and there was nothing at their address. Local Businesses nearby thought they had closed or moved. I searched on line and found a website that looked like the shop was still open but when I went again, I could not locate the shop and at the address given, there was no sign or eviudence of a store. |
