I did not like this at first, so I took a few to the local magic club to perform and get opinions. A few of the well read guys thought it was novel. The new guys where floored. All agreed, w/o being shown the method, that it was a neat effect. It is great for doing a quick trick for a few people. Audience management needs to be handled well, but overall I have had fun with this.
In secret sessions, someone uses this with a borrowed coin and switches. Coin ends up in performers pocket. See Secret sessions for details. Makes this a complete trick, instead of a vanish. |

Ha, funny. I pressed the button to buy after reading the first page, but then read the second page here while it was proccessing. Oh boy.
Interesting, wouldn't have thought about it, but knew of the principle before. Could have some use. I am thinking of the idea of changing the colour of a coin and then back again, ending "clean" so to speak. That is, maybe changing a golden loony into a silver one.

Since you can "squish"...why not change a $1 coin into two halves?

Hi Magicmind,
You certainly can! You can also do it with any Euro coin. To say you can't is wrong...you just didn't research it properly. I have gotten so much great feedback on this item. People that can see it's potential will greatly benefit. All the best, Kranzo

Nathan - you are right you can use it with euro coins and guess what you can make a canoe out of match sticks - just a matter of how much time and effort you want to put into anything...
catch you later

Hi Blindside.
That is great! Sounds like you are having a great time with the effects possible. The willingness to put forth extra effort and time into a great effect is what seperates the men from the boys. All the best, Kranzo

Umm ... nathan ... in theory it CAN be done. you're right. but did you really try it that way? I did. practically, it's impossible. I know what you were thinking ... it just doesn't work.

No doubt the vanish looks great in the video. And the method is way out of left field which I appreciate. In fact I had an idea many years ago to do something along the same logic- Think butter/chapstick. It was something I considered marketing. In fact I posted the method here at the Café but mainly got laughed at on how impractical it was for a simple vanish. I respect Nathan's thinking here but believe at some point you've got to let go of creativity in exchange for practicality. It's hard to imagine anyone's walkng around repeating this on a regular basis. Remember, thumbtips are only boring and predictable to us.

Has anybody actualy done this with "Euros"? I think it would only work if you used Cents?

Nate,
I played with this idea as a kid...and then totally forgot about it! I like it, and have come up with a few variations and moves. I get all kinds of great ideas from almost every effect I work on even if they are not the original purpose or concept intended. So do I think it is worth $10.00? Absolutely. Nice work Nathan!

Thanks Tony!
I appreciate your feedback. I´ve received over a hundred emails and pms from people who love it. There have also been some great ideas sent to me that I might put in an addition. Those who put in the time will be rewarded greatly. All the best, Kranzo

This post comes after a post of mine on another thread which deals with Nathan's effect. Now that I'm in possession of the trick I'll stand by what I wrote about Nathan's creativity and the mileage I've gotten from some of his other stuff, but we shouldn't beat around the bush: angles are a big issue with this trick, and you'd be nuts to do this in a walk around, strolling situation. I'd call Squish terribly clever, but limited in a way that some of Nathan's other contributions are not. maybe it's not as limited as the Balducci levitation, but it's in that neighborhood. If you have no trouble with Balducci, well I guess you're home free.

Hi Alan,
I appreciate your kind words but you are wrong to say it's crazy to perform it in walk around, or strolling conditions. I have performed it in a strolling situations quite a bit....ss I have other effects of this nature where some shade is needed like the torn and restored cigarette paper, bill switches, etc. You must first be mindfull of your conditions and proper audience management. All the best, Kranzo

If this is the same as the one that Etienne Pradier did on secrets of magic, I don't think he ever actually did it, it was just a hoax explanation for the TV audience; he really used much more standard and practical methods like raven, flipper and so on.
