I have a new effect/prop out called "The Scent of Darkness". Based on an old fakir's trick, inspired by the works of Baba Gede Nebo and the bizarre creations of Doug Higley, the Scent of Darkness is my new and unique way of selecting an audience member from a small group.
The object is completely hand made by myself (No molds- completely hand sculpted), and comes with comeplete instructions! It is small, a snap to perform, inspectable by anyone, instantly resets and can be performed completely surrounded. Check it out at Doug's site http://grindshow.com/GrindShow/Gwyd.html Let me know if you have any questions or if you have any comments! I know you'll like it! Gwyd |

Looks like a cool idea! I'm sure the reaction from the "chosen" is strong enough to register with the rest of the audience?

Absolutely...I get some really good faces from those who get the Scent.
It is not pleasant. Just makes it more fun! Gwyd |

Gwyd, is the scent fairly permanent, or does it require replenishing?
Is the replenishing done with easy to get materials? |

The scents used will need to be redone before each performance or set of performances. Very easy to get ahold of though. I get mine at a grocery store and they are not expensive at all.
PM if you need more information. Gwyd |

I recently purchased and received Gwyd's Scent of Darkness and can say I am completely satisfied with the product. The bottle is a thing of beauty. It looks even better than the photos depict in the ad. I have the original brown version and have to say I prefer it over the alternative version also pictured on the website. Just my personal preference. Even if you never perform the effect as suggested, it's worth getting this outstanding prop. Its uses are limited only by the imagination. Beautiful work. Smell the mystery...

Hey Gwyd,
I read your description here and on Doug's site and I still can't figure out the effect. What am I missing? |

The general effect is that the bottle is passed to several volunteers for inspection, and they are asked to smell the water inside. It smells like water.
The bottle is then taken back by the magician, words are spoken, gestures are made, then the bottle is passed under the noses of the volunteers. Each smells something different (Completely under your control) until you get to the one you want to select (In my routine, it matches the volunteer who selects a certain object) they smell something horrible. The trick includes two complete routines including one from Doug came up with. When I have used it, it was an extremely strong effect. In general, it is very clear to the audience which one got the bad smell. They make a great face... Hope that clears the air a bit. Gwyd |

Its an awesome idea and a great looking prop! I hope to get one soon. I know just how I'll use it! Thanks for offering the fraternity a unique and imaginative tool!
"What's your drug?" she asked. "Hope" he said, "The most addicting one of all."

There was a story of a magi receiving one over in the Bizarrist forum... http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......start=30 It was written by Michael Midnight. A really fun read! Check it out! Gwyd |

I have had a couple of questions asked a couple of times over the last couple of weeks, so I thought I'd put the answers up here.
The bottle itself is 4 1/2" high (Including cork) by 3 1/2" wide (Give or take 1/4" on the width, depending on my sculpting). The face is not latex, so not at all rubbery. Imagine a texture closer to well hardened leather. Despite the glass, these things are not fragile. They can take a LOT of handling. Let me know if there are any other questions! Gwyd |

Not a problem!
This effect has been selling great, but I have been able to keep up with demand so far. I have been keeping the time from order to ship down to less than 10 days. I could do it in less if the materials didn't have to fully cure before shipping! And so far, not one negative review! Hopefully we'll get some more posted up soon. Thanks everyone! Gwyd |
