Title: Obsession Available at: 2DeeMagic.com The blurb: Meet PkSon. Korea’s most talented magician. He has been amazing thousands of people with just a regular dck of cards. No gaffs, minimum setup, impromptu, and VISUAL magic. His DVD will teach you everything you need to know from sleights to patter, subtleties and routining. The moves, presentation, misdirection, and variations are taught in-depth giving you all the confidence you need to go out and blow people away. Leave your gaffs at home. All you need is a deck of cards. Now you too, can travel light. Review: Part 1: The sleights. -Double undercut. -Fancy control cut- very nice control here -Basic double lift. -Double lift get ready variation- 3 variations -Strike double lift. -Snap Double lift- The one that Daryl uses -KM move -Riffle force -Riffle force variation- excellent, a riffle force, but without the pinky break…. -Hindu force -Hindu force variation- I’m now using this variant on the hindu force- it’s fantastic, and dare I say better than the original -Classic force –The best teaching I’ve seen on it. Ridiculously convincing, he’s always spot-on -Elmsley count-It’s always good to know that you’ve been doing you’re counts into the wrong hand all this time… -Jordan count -Ascanio spread -The classic pass-Gives you the basics, but doesn’t have many convincers, so you’ll have to look elsewhere for more in-depth teaching -The hermann pass- Is a great colour change too -The half pass- Thankfully gave me the tip I was looking for -The bluff pass- Some fantastic convincers Part 2- The ‘cool moves’ A few colour changes here: -->Erdnase- fantastic teaching, as usual -->Bertram- Wow. He is truly a king of this sleight, as shown on his many vids on the site itself -->Bertram variation- The King just became prime minister... -->Snap Change- Good teaching, I got a good tip -->The top change- some good methods, but the original is missed out -->The multiple Top Change- I can’t say enough about this sleight. Bar none the best packet switch ever. Similar to the Talazac, but not quite. Also you can switch one card for 3, or vice versa, or anything like that. An amazing utility move, and pretty easy too Flourishes- Two are included. Not bad, both are full deck controls, but not the most flourishy of flourishes. Also neither is the one shown in the preview- that clip is from the outtakes Miscellaneous- The Rok Turnover. A great move, a card is placed into the middle, fairly, even out jogged if you want. All one move. Nice. Part 3- The Tricks The Zeroth Card Trick. This is PK's favorite card opener, and will soon be your favorite too. Spectator chooses a card, magician finds it. Think you've seen 'em all? Wait till you see this! A card is selected and replaced into the deck. Immediately the deck is shuffled by the spectator. The performer makes a prediction…one heck of a surprise at the end. Excellent opener, used it a few times thus far, and I’m gonna do so for a long time. Deviant Drifter (Ambitious Card) Ambitious Card Routine at it’s finest. You’ve never seen a more visual ambitious card routine than this. The signed card rises slowly, visibly to the top. (face up!) PkSon’s version of Ray Kosby’s raise rise…but face up. Visually amazing, decent angles, and shown on the preview. Quite hard, it’s gonna take some practise, but I’m starting to see some decent progress already. Innerversion Start slow, speed up, and leave people shocked in the end. The whole deck flips over impossibly / visually, except for one card, the selection! Pk’s version of Brian Tudor’s innerversion. Similar in form and concept to the orginal but slightly different in method .A new first phase where the card is reversed using a great new reversal taught in the dvd, and the trick is justified by patter. To be honest Tudor’s Inversion was only something I ever used in my room to mess around with. Wuth Innerversion there is no sidesteal, making it something I have and will use. I’ve tried this I think 3 times so far…it’s got surprisingly great reactions. Nice variation Pk. Did You Check? Possibly the best application, variation and plot to a widely known classic trick. Incorporated with a new move, this trick has gotten a shocking facelift. I’m not quite sure whether it’s a shocking facelift, but I think I’m gonna use this variation over the original. Also justified by good patter. Vodka Twist Another masterpiece, one of the more knuckle-busting tricks on the DVD. Many twists and turns. Nothing is what it seems. You can use this as an ace production, a closer, a backup, or a filler. after this trick people will be begging for more. A really nice trick- enjoyed this one. A great way to get into a four ace and selcted card routine. Fluid handling. Birthday Card Spectators are amazed at the signed card trick until you totally finish them off with a killer visual ending. It’s called the birthday trick because now you can give out the perfect birthday card. Uses Pk’s variation on the Bertram (of which he is a master). Good trick. Buffer 8M Only a couple of moves and you get 3 card transpositions. Highly sleight efficient. Probably for magicians the weakest effect on the dvd, but it seems to work for the specs. Nothing totally new, just a bit more routined. The Genius Jokers. Take your sandwich card effects to a higher level with this effect. This is probably the most shocking sandwich finisher you will find. Magic happens in the spectator's hands. 3 variations. Good sandwich effect. I’m gonna use this on the street- 3 phases (the last one is new). Excellent effect Vicarious Theta One of PK’s masterpieces. Using an original move you get to do what many other tricks have merely attempted. (Hence the 'Vicarious') A thought-of card magically jumps from between a spectator’s hands into another spectator’s hands. You end clean. Wow. Closer material. Just brilliant. They look at a card from 5 chosen cards, which are all placed in the box cleanly. Another five cards are taken. A wee bit o’ patter, and their card is in the 5 (now 6) cards they’ve been holding. An ungaffed strange travellers, the box is not needed, as you can use anothers hands. Tons of presentational ability. I’m personally working on a variation using different coloured backs too. Other: Quality and Editing: Is absolutely brilliant. Crystal clear visual, and audio, although once the wind makes the audio go a little, but it doesn’t affect the teaching. Pk is a professional editor, so it’s excellent too. Very smooth, great effects. Even better than that of the vids on his site- which is saying something. Also the music and beats are great. Miscellaneous: Pk is also a pretty funny guy, and there are some ‘laugh out load’ moments in the video. There are some great outtakes too. Also Bait is included via pdf, and it’s the same free trick as on his site. If I had to be nit-ky about the video: I was a little confused because the snap change was on the dvd, but it wasn’t used at all in any of the tricks, and although it made my snap change better, it seemed like it was slapped in there. It didn’t have a copyright notification on it (although it is obviously copyrighted), but I’m not sure if that’s a disadvantage…as it makes the dvd load immediately. In the teaching, in the sleight and cool moves section the area of teaching changes a little sporadically. It mixes it up, but it seems a little odd. While there is a lot of crediting on the dvd, and by that I mean some real obscure stuff, some obvious credits are left out, such as Marlo for the snap change, and Bertram for the Bertram change. Actually that’s about it for the obvious stuff, but to remedy this Pk has actually written up more credits on the product page, so be sure to read that. Some crediting on the dvd was great (such as inspirations etc…), but some little bits have been missed out- product page. Now a lot of that is me being extremely nit picky, and I watched the dvd again just to take out some of these things. Which says enough about this dvd. 2deemagic as a whole: I had a problem with purchase, as I put my home country as South Korea. Woops. However they fixed it within 24 hours. Also check out Pk's videos on the site- they're excellent. Conclusion: This is definetely one of my very favourite dvds, and it is no exaggeration. I’m going to use so much of this material regularly. It has improved the overall quality of my magic, with refinements on sleights, inspiration, and of course tricks. I highly recommend it, unless you’re buying it just to know the secrets. If that’s the case- you don’t deserve this! Deviant Drifter, Vicarious Theta, and the MTC are just too good… Good luck guys, and happy magic |

Andy,
All of the video's I have seen of PK have been in English, very well spoken English I might add. I think it safe to assume that this is in English. --Jim p.s. There is a preview video on their page at: http://www.pkson.cloud9magic.com/shop/in......ductId=6 |

Hi, thanks Nass for the great review.
Yes I speak English. I actually wouldn't be able to teach in Korean. It would sound so awkward.. hehe.. as for the paypal problem, I'm not sure what you mean by "it does not recognize the email". do you mean that you have a paypal account, but when you try to login it doesn't work, or do you mean that you are trying to put in your own email that is not registered on paypal? once again, thanks. PK

PK,
no offense meant - I once bought a tape only to discover that it was in Japanese with English subtitles. Andy

Actaully Pk I just realised I had a very similar problem when trying to order, I had to try many times to get through- perhaps it's a glitch with the site?

Finally picked Obsession up over the Thanksgiving holiday and man am I peeved that I waited this long to order this DVD. There were a few small things within the contents of this DVD that I wanted to work on and improve to make me a better magician. I was totally blown away by the teaching, the content, and the overall quality of the DVD itself.
PK, I have always had a great deal of respect for you and this just cements the entire notion. Thanks for all the effort put into this DVD, the excellent teachings, and the timely touches of humor throughout. This easily goes into my top 3-5 magic purchases ever. --Jim |
